Is Garrett Wilson Playing Today? Latest Injury Updates, Fantasy Analysis, and More

To the alarm of fantasy managers, New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson surprisingly appeared on the injury report this week. Will Wilson play today?

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson surprised fantasy managers by appearing on the injury report this week with an elbow injury. Wilson did suffer the injury in last week’s 16-12 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. However, he did return to the game and appeared unfazed by the injury.

This injury appears to be impacting Wilson’s ability to practice. Therefore, will Wilson play today? And what is the latest update concerning his injury?

Also, if Wilson does play on Sunday versus the Buffalo Bills, what is his fantasy outlook? Let’s dig deeper to find out what fantasy football managers should do with Wilson this weekend.

Editor’s Note: Garrett Wilson is active for Week 11.

Is Garrett Wilson Going To Play in Week 11?

Wilson sustained an elbow injury while trying to steer the Jets to victory in their defeat to the Raiders last week. As a result, Wilson has only been a limited participant in all 3 practice sessions on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week.

However, there appears to be optimism that Wilson will play in Week 11. When speaking to ESPN reporters on Friday after practice, Wilson said, “It’s doing better. I’m feeling good, so we’re going to rock this weekend.”

However, he did admit that the injury would limit him. He went on to confirm this and say “Yeah, but we’ll get it done.”

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter confirmed this status with an update on X this morning. Schefter posted “Jet’s WR Garrett Wilson, listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Bills, said he will play.”

Therefore, it appears Wilson will play this week against the Bills. However, it does appear he could be somewhat limited. Therefore, how should fantasy managers view Wilson this week? And what is his potential fantasy outlook?

What Is Wilson’s Potential Fantasy Outlook for Today?

Wilson comes into Week 11 as the WR20 in fantasy football. However, he is currently ranked as the WR13 in our PFN Consensus Rankings this week.

This week, Wilson takes on the Bills, who are the 18th-ranked team for fantasy points allowed to wide receivers so far this season. The Bills are allowing 26.4 fantasy points per game to wide receivers entering Week 11.

He currently has a 33% target share on what has been a pretty pedestrian fantasy offense. Wilson also has 63.2% of the Jets’ red-zone targets. Wilson is currently ranked in a tie for 12th for most red-zone targets by wide receivers, with 11 so far this season.

Wilson has a fairly neutral WR/CB matchup with Rasul Douglas this week. However, Douglas certainly has improved since joining the Bills ahead of the trade deadline late last month.

While the Jets have been sluggish on offense, Wilson has been a leading light. And fantasy managers, while not willing to trust Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, should feel confident starting the star wide receiver until further notice.

The injury will be a concern, and it might hamper Wilson in contested catches against Douglas and the Bills. However, Nathanial Hackett, the offensive coordinator, has done a good job in scheming Wilson open so far this season. And with his high target share and high red-zone target share, there should be some trust that Wilson will have a WR2 floor with WR1 upside today.

Therefore, as long as the injury doesn’t prevent Wilson from playing, fantasy managers should feel confident starting him in all formats today.
