Is Daniel Jones Playing Today? Giants QB To See Preseason Action in Game 2?

Is Daniel Jones playing today? Let's take a closer look at the New York Giants quarterback and his availability for preseason game No. 2.

After sitting out the preseason opener, how likely are we to see Daniel Jones play in the New York Giants‘ second preseason contest? With the Giants taking on the Carolina Panthers Friday night, here’s all we know about Jones’ chances of suiting up.

Will Daniel Jones Play in Second Preseason Game?

There is no definitive answer to this question at the moment, but if we read through the tea leaves, all signs point to Jones and the rest of the Giants starters seeing at least some action on Friday night.

Jones is fresh off signing a four-year, $160 million deal this offseason, and while the Giants will look to protect their new well-paid asset, it looks as if New York’s staff also believes in the value of getting preseason work to avoid being rusty heading into Week 1.

Just how much work Jones will get is an unknown. However, head coach Brian Daboll and the offense hope that Jones’ first preseason action of the year is productive and he gets out unscathed.

Who Else Will Play for the Giants?

Outside of Jones, New York currently has two other quarterbacks on their roster. Their QB2, however, is solidified by the long-time NFL veteran Tyrod Taylor.

Taylor is heading into his 13th season as an NFL quarterback. His latest stop in New York makes the Giants the fifth different franchise he has played for. He started the Giants’ first preseason game and looks to be the first man up when Jones exits tonight.

Behind Taylor in the QB room is rookie Tommy DeVito out of the University of Illinois. DeVito started his college career at Syracuse before joining Illinois for his final season.

DeVito went undrafted in this year’s draft and is looking to use the preseason as a chance to showcase his talent and stick around on an NFL roster. Through one preseason game, DeVito has a 62.5 completion percentage, 155 passing yards, and one touchdown pass.
