Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce has been one of the few disappointments for fantasy football managers who drafted pieces of the Texans’ offense onto their fantasy teams. While he has been injured and out for several weeks, he also has not produced for fantasy managers in many games this season either.
Pierce, who has missed the last three games and is questionable for today’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, has only broken the 10-fantasy-point mark twice this season.
Will Pierce play today against the Jaguars? What is the latest with his injury? And, if Pierce does play, what is his possible fantasy outlook for today?
Is Dameon Pierce Going To Play Week 12?
Pierce has been dealing with an ankle injury that has been bothering him for a while, missing the past three games. However, it is documented that he was struggling with this injury before the Texans’ bye in Week 7. Also, due to that bye week, the last time Pierce played a full game was in Week 6 vs. the New Orleans Saints.
Pierce is currently listed as questionable. However, Adam Schefter of ESPN network posted a positive update on X this morning for fantasy managers. He wrote, “Texans’ RB Dameon Pierce, listed as questionable for Sunday due to an ankle injury, is expected to play vs. the Jaguars, per source.”
So, with Pierce expected to play this afternoon against the Jaguars, what is his potential fantasy outlook for today?
What Is Pierce’s Potential Fantasy Outlook for Today?
Pierce is coming into Week 12 as the RB48 for the season. He has only made one appearance in the past five weeks (and he didn’t make it to the end of the game) due to this ankle injury.
He has only broken the 10-fantasy-point plane in a game twice this season. Pierce is only averaging 7.4 fantasy points per game in seven outings this season.

Our PFN Consensus Rankings have Pierce currently ranked as the RB40. That is because Devin Singletary has been exceptional in relief for the injured Pierce. Singletary has logged 100-yard rushing games in back-to-back games in the last two weeks — the first time in his career.
In Week 10, Singletary was the RB3 overall in fantasy football. And in Week 11, he was the RB5 overall. Therefore, even with Pierce being close to fully fit and expected to return, it is unlikely he will be playing ahead of Singletary anytime soon.
Singletary is expected to be the starter and carry on having a significant workload over Pierce for the foreseeable future. And, with the Jaguars only allowing 16.2 fantasy points per game on average to running backs, that smaller piece of the workload is not worth all that much.
Fantasy managers should sit Pierce for today, as it is unlikely he will make a significant impact on the box score and their fantasy lineups. Instead, fantasy managers should look to utilize other running backs on their roster. And, if Singletary carries the majority of the workload today against the Jaguars as expected, then Pierce becomes a drop candidate for free agency this week should a better option become apparent.
