Cooper Kupp is reportedly back in good shape for the 2024 season -- will the Rams WR play in the preseason opener vs. the Cowboys?

Cooper Kupp, who will finally make a comeback after two injury-heavy seasons, will be one of the most crucial players for the Los Angeles Rams in the 2024 NFL season.

The Rams’ pass-catching extraordinaire, who turned 31 this past June, is reportedly healthy enough to make a difference with his explosive plays in the regular season. But will Kupp be playing in the preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys?

Is Cooper Kupp Taking Snaps in the Preseason Game vs. the Cowboys?

Kupp is getting healthier for this coming season, and the Rams’ coaching staff will be doing everything possible to keep the star wide receiver healthy. That means he’ll most likely miss the first preseason matchup against the Cowboys, as head coach Sean McVay has been reluctant to risk his leading players in preseason games.

The Los Angeles star will be entering his eighth NFL season this year, but Kupp’s journey to this point hasn’t been easy. He’s faced numerous injuries in his professional career, which have resulted in him playing just four full seasons.

During his last complete season in 2021, Kupp outshone everybody with his thrilling play, catching 145 passes for 1,947 yards and a staggering 16 touchdowns.

In 2022, he was only able to appear in nine games, followed by 12 in the 2023 season, which, when combined, resulted in him not being able to get on the field for a total of 13 times.

Talking about how he’s catching up on the lost playing time and being able to preserve his confidence, Kupp told ESPN that he still believes in himself and the work he’s been putting in to be the “productive player” he knows he is.

Even with the rise of Puka Nucua and rookie sixth-rounder WR Jordan Whittington out of Texas in the mix, McVay’s team will heavily depend on Kupp to show off his skills on the field in 2024 and help them win games.

McVay also couldn’t help but praise Kupp’s involvement and progress with the team. He continues to bring positive change to the locker room while taking on the role of leader. McVay also emphasized the work the Rams’ WR has been putting in and expressed optimism for the 2024 season.
