Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin has won fantasy football managers many games throughout his career, but will he be available this week? After the receiver hurt his neck, will he be playing in Week 8? Or will managers be without him for this big game against the Buffalo Bills?
Is Chris Godwin Going To Play Week 8?
One thing working against Godwin is the fact that this is a Thursday night game. If this was a Sunday, it would definitely be easier for Godwin to come back. Luckily for the Buccaneers and fantasy football managers, the pass catcher appears to be playing tonight.
HC Todd Bowles said on Wednesday, barring some setback through the day, to expect Godwin to be a full participant.
He missed Monday’s practice due to the injury, and he was limited on practice Tuesday. On Wednesday, though, he was a full participant at practice, and Bowles said he would be good to go.
How Should Fantasy Managers Approach Mike Evans and Rachaad White
The Bills have been pretty good on defense, but the team has struggled against the pass since CB Tre’Davious White tore his Achilles. They are unable to play as much man-to-man as they would like, and that could play a role in this game against the Bills.
Last week, New England Patriots QB Mac Jones had one of his best games of the season. He went 25-for-30 for 272 yards and two touchdowns.
The Patriots’ offense has been as bad as there has been in the league this year, so the fact they put up numbers against the Bills could be a good sign for managers with Buccaneers on the team. WR Mike Evans is still putting up solid numbers for the Bucs, as he had six catches for 82 yards and one touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons last week.

Without White, the Bills have been forced to play more zone, and that could be a big plus for Godwin. He is very good at finding the open spot in the zone and always seems to be open. The receiver had six catches for 66 yards against the Falcons while running back Rachaad White had six catches for 65 yards.
Godwin is definitely a guy that should be in your lineup. If Bowles has deemed that he will play, you can expect that he is going to be involved in the game plan. Godwin has been targeted at least five times every game this year and has at least five catches in every game but one.
The one negative is that Godwin hasn’t scored a touchdown yet, but he has still been able to score at least 10.1 PPR points in every game except one.
In the Pro Football Network Start/Sit Optimizer, PFN’s Consensus Rankings still have Evans as the player to start. He is projected to get 13.7 points while Godwin and White are both slated to score 11.9.
The key takeaway from those numbers is that if Godwin were a surprise inactive, White and Evans both appear to be players that should be in your lineup.
