Is CeeDee Lamb Playing Today vs. the Rams? Fantasy Outlook for Cowboys Wide Receiver

After a surprise appearance on the injury report, is Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb playing today against the Rams?

The Dallas Cowboys offense hasn’t quite been what most expected coming into the year. However, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has been the one constant and is living up to the lofty expectations placed on him this preseason. With an important NFC matchup against the Los Angeles Rams today, will a groin injury sideline Lamb, or will he suit up and play today?

Update: Lamb is officially active and will play today against the Rams.

    Is CeeDee Lamb Playing Today?

Lamb has officially been listed as questionable for this game against the Rams. He did not practice on Thursday but was able to log limited participation on Friday. Lamb said he was fine, but that didn’t stop the team from getting an MRI done on the star WR. The results were negative, so there is a good chance that Lamb does in fact play.

I’m fine. I’m good. I don’t want to scare nobody.” said Lamb.

With injuries piling up for the Cowboys, Lamb missing time would certainly be a blow to a team trying to remain competitive with the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. With QB Dak Prescott already out due to a hand injury, key offensive linemen missing time, and WR Michael Gallup only recently returning from IR, Lamb has been an integral part of the Cowboys’ recent success.

Backup QB Cooper Rush, who is playing in relief of Prescott, has relied heavily on Lamb to move the chains. In his last three games, Lamb has caught at least six passes per game on 31 total targets and has accumulated at least 75 receiving yards in each contest. He’s also found the end zone in each of his past two games.

Fantasy Impact of Lamb’s Availability Against the Rams

The Cowboys have been winning games by relying heavily on a balanced offense and the team’s excellent defense. Rush has completed 60.8% of his passes for 737 yards and four touchdowns, with no interceptions across three and a half games played. On the other side of the ball, Dallas’ defense currently ranks sixth in the NFL in yards allowed per game thanks to excellent play from both Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence.

Dallas will be going up against a defense that has struggled to defend the pass. The Rams have allowed the second-most PPR fantasy points to receivers so far this year at 47.98 per game. Los Angeles has also allowed six touchdowns through the air.

PFN’s Senior Fantasy Analyst Tommy Garrett currently has Lamb ranked as WR8 in his Week 5 PPR rankings. If he remains healthy, Lamb will be a solid WR1 option against Jalen Ramsey and this Rams’ defense. However, if he aggrevates the injury during warmups or is a surprise inactive, look for Michael Gallup and Noah Brown to see significant increases in their value.

Gallup scored a TD in his first game back from IR last week, and Brown has over 270 receiving yards on the season through four weeks.
