Will Brian Robinson Jr. Be Active in Week 5?

Robinson is questionable ahead of the Washington Commanders’ Week 5 battle with the Browns.

Robinson popped up on the injury report with a knee issue coming out of Washington’s Week 4 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

The week didn’t start out well for Robinson, as the productive running back sat out of Washington’s practices on both Wednesday and Thursday. He finally returned to practice on Friday, however, earning a limited-participant designation. Robinson is active and expected to play on Sunday.

Robinson is tenth in the NFL in rushing yards heading into Week 5. To this point, he’s accrued 66 carries for 307 yards and three touchdowns. Week 4 was one of his better outings, as he rumbled for over 100 yards and a score against the Cardinals.

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has said that even though Robinson sat out the first two practices of the week, he’s trending up to play in Week 5. Quinn reaffirmed that Robinson will be a game-time decision on Sunday.

Brian Robinson Jr.’s Fantasy Outlook This Week

Robinson has commanded heavy volume from the very start this year, and his usage has been trending up as well. In Week 4 against Arizona, he logged the highest touch total of the season thus far with 21 carries and three receptions, and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury has expressed a desire to get Robinson more involved in the passing game.

At 6’1″, 228 pounds, Robinson’s size and physicality have become assets for a well-rounded Commanders offense led by star rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. That said, his vision has become just as prevalent of a strength and a guiding light for his success.

Robinson wasn’t the only Commanders RB impacted by injury heading into this week. Austin Ekeler entered Week 5 in the concussion protocol. However, the veteran receiving back has since been cleared, and he should be available for Washington as well on Sunday.

Even with Ekeler in the mix, Robinson is the RB1 if he plays. Robinson has the tools to maintain a presence as the Commanders’ primary volume back, and thus far in his career, his toughness and willingness to play through adversity has been one of his hallmark qualities.
