NFL Insider Reports Elijah Moore Was a Star at Cleveland’s OTAs: What Does that Mean for Moore’s Fantasy Stock?

Elijah Moore went from being a rising star in the fantasy football landscape to an afterthought quickly due to a disappointing 2022 campaign.

In Pro Football Network’s NFL Insider Adam Caplan’s recent notebook, he shed some light on what fantasy managers could expect from the playmaking wideout going into the 2023 season now that he’s a member of the Cleveland Browns.

Elijah Moore’s Versatility Will Be on Display This Season

After showing signs of potential in his rookie season, Moore’s production came crashing down in 2022 with poor QB play that was married to a trade request and subsequent benching for the second-year wideout.

The eventual split between New York and Moore seemed inevitable, and he — plus a third-round pick — was eventually shipped off for the No. 42 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. Now, Moore finds himself in Cleveland’s WR room, where he could very easily ascend to be the No. 2 receiving threat behind Amari Cooper.

According to Caplan, Moore’s taking advantage of the opportunity in his new city, and he was a standout at the team’s OTA practices.

“A source said the team really wanted to improve the team’s speed at the wide receiver position, and Moore, who is expected to start opposite veteran WR Amari Cooper, ran a 4.35 40-yard dash during his pro day workout in 2021. Some teams had him clocked as high as 4.32.”

The allure of Moore’s skill set is that he can be utilized at every level of the field. He has the speed and athleticism to create yards after the catch in the short passing game, but he also has the elusiveness and explosiveness to break away deep downfield for the long reception.

It wouldn’t be shocking to see Kevin Stefanski deploy Moore as a receiving threat out of the backfield at times this season to compensate for the loss of Kareem Hunt. This would mean significant touches are available for the explosive WR heading into 2023, and fantasy managers should take notice.

At his current ADP, Moore’s a fantastic option to add to your roster as a depth WR. If Watson can bounce back to be his former self, Moore should have no issue returning value this season.
