CeeDee Lamb Injury Update: Is the Cowboys WR’s Appearance on the Practice Report of High Concern?

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb appeared on the team’s injury report on Monday with an ankle injury.

    Latest Update on CeeDee Lamb

On Tuesday morning, Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan that they would see how Lamb did at practice on Tuesday and Wednesday, but he gives the receiver “a thumbs up” right now.

Lamb was upgraded to being a full participant in Tuesday’s full practice, which would be the same workload as a Thursday in a normal week.

During Tuesday’s practice that was open to the media, Lamb was seen in team stretches and doing individual drills with the rest of the receivers, looking like he hadn’t skipped a beat.

In locker room interviews after practice, Lamb was asked about his ankle, and his response was clear, “I’m straight. I’ll be out there.”

Lamb was a limited participant on Monday, but this shouldn’t cause panic. According to head coach Mike McCarthy, Lamb “is not of high concern” because the team is on a shortened schedule this week due to the Thursday game against the Washington Commanders.

Since the teams play on Thanksgiving, Monday was equivalent to a typical Wednesday walkthrough on a regular week with a Sunday game. Typically, Wednesdays are veteran rest days for the Cowboys and have been throughout the season.

Wednesday’s practice report and projected game status should clarify Lamb’s availability for Thursday.

Although it’s unclear when Lamb injured his ankle, it doesn’t seem like anything to worry about just yet, especially because of the short week.

Not only do the Cowboys have a short week playing on Thursday this week, but they will have another prime-time Thursday game the following week as well against the Seattle Seahawks.

So overall, the practices will be different for the next couple of weeks to accommodate players who need to stay fresh as the team prepares for the December leg of their season.

    Lamb’s 2023 Season So Far

Lamb has had a busy few weeks. On the season, he has 1,013 yards — 655 of which have come since Week 7. In fact, last week, Lamb set an NFL record for having his third consecutive game with 10+ catches and 150 receiving yards.

After the Cowboys’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5, Lamb asked for the ball more and has been on a roll ever since. The fourth-year veteran has averaged 101.3 receiving yards per game this season, ranking him within the top three receivers in the NFL.

According to Inside Edge, Lamb has 22 receptions for 20+ yards this season, the most among NFL wide receivers.

It’s clear how well Dak Prescott plays with Lamb, but overall, the Cowboys’ offense has been finding its stride with ball distribution.
