Travis Hunter is a different breed. His ability to play on both sides of the ball makes him one of the most interesting prospects heading into the 2025 NFL Draft. His athletic ability was on full display during his 2024 season with the Colorado Buffaloes.
He played a vital role in leading the program to a 9-4 season and punched a bowl game ticket for the first time since 2020. While there have been criticisms around his ambitions to play on offense and defense, Hunter has responded with a classic answer at the Combine in Indianapolis.

Travis Hunter Reiterates His NFL Plans
The Colorado standout is in town at the Combine, but he will not participate in CB and WR drills. Rather, he will focus his energy on meetings with several NFL teams. Before heading onto the field, the 21-year-old spoke to reporters during the presser. He mentioned that he is quite different and is ready to make history in the league.
“There are some meetings as receiver. There’s some meetings at DB. So it’s still up in the air,” Hunter told reporters about his plans for what position he would play in the league. “They say, ‘Nobody has ever done it the way I do it.’ I tell them, ‘I’m just different,’” he added with a big smile.
Before the interview, Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan made an eye-catching remark about Hunter. According to him, he is extremely versatile and can be used on either side of the ball.
Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter on playing both positions in the NFL: “They say, ‘nobody has ever done it the way I do it.’ I tell them, ‘I’m just different.'”
Hunter wants to play both positions: 100% of snaps at CB and 100% snaps at WR.

“It’s very realistic,” Titans coach Brian Callahan said. “He’s got the ability to play both and I think you’re going to find out where he fits with if you were to get him, but he’s got a really unique ability to do a lot of different things,” he added.
Browns general manager Andrew Berry shared a similar viewpoint.
“I’d say this in terms of Travis Hunter, cornerback or receiver? I’d say the answer is yes,” Berry said to reporters.
“He can play both and I think that’s what makes him special. We would see him as a wide receiver primarily first. Again, what makes him a bit of a unicorn is the fact that he can do both at a high level,” he added. The Titans, the Browns, and the Giants are the most likely spots for Hunter in the 2025 draft.
