IDP Fantasy Football Report: Waiver Wire Advice and Week 7 Rankings

    Published on

It's time to start setting lineups, and we've got Week 7 IDP rankings. Who are some top IDP players to plug in for fantasy football managers?

Week 6 of football is officially in the books, and it’s time to look ahead for our fantasy football leagues.

The IDP report will provide an early look at several waiver wire priorities of varying league sizes, along with preliminary Week 7 IDP rankings. Since all leagues are different sizes and have differing IDP requirements, the weekly rankings might be more beneficial than the waiver list.

As usual, the rankings are a reflection of IDP Flex rankings for tackle-heavy formats.

Azeez Ojulari, DE, New York Giants

Not long after last week’s article was written, it was reported that Kayvon Thibodeaux would have surgery and be out for at least a month. In his absence, Azeez Ojulari returns to the starting lineup and, with it, returns to IDP relevance.

In his return to the starting lineup in Week 6, Ojulari showed off some of the promise he had before the Brian Burns acquisition. Ojulari posted four combined tackles, including two sacks on Joe Burrow.

Ojulari getting to play across from a player like Burns and next to Dexter Lawrence will allow him to continue to play against a single blocker.

Jamien Sherwood, LB, New York Jets

I was surprised how the Jets played this in Week 6 on Monday Night Football. Returning veteran and team captain C.J. Mosley came back from injury but was Wally Pipped by Jamien Sherwood.

Sherwood played the full-time role and wore the green dot, while Mosley played just 13% of snaps.

The reporting was Mosley would be eased back in, so maybe it returns to him. Sherwood continued to post strong tackle numbers in the full-time role, though. He posted a new season-high 13 combined tackles, making it his third of 12 or more already.

I’d bet on the genie staying out of the bottle in Sherwood.

    Krys Barnes, LB, Arizona Cardinals

This one is entirely dependent upon injury and really could be a couple of guys. Neville Hewitt is the other one in Houston, but the possible return of Christian Harris clouds that.

So let’s talk about the Kyzir White injury in Arizona and how that opens the door for Krys Barnes if you need a possible fill-in.

White hurt his knee in the second quarter of Week 6 and left the game. In came Barnes in relief, and he posted nine combined tackles, including eight solo in that cameo. Barnes did it last year as well when White went down mid-season. He averaged over seven tackles per game in 2023 in the five games he exceeded 70% of snaps in.

Tre’von Moehrig, S, Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders have been adjusting on the fly after losing one of their starting safeties, Marcus Epps, earlier in the year. Recently, new running mate Isaiah Pola-Mao has settled in more as the deep safety, while Tre’von Moehrig has been playing the ideal IDP role as a box and slot defender.

Not only has Moehrig seen his snaps near the line of scrimmage shoot up, but his production has also followed.

Back in Week 4, Moehrig played about 60% of snaps deep and got just five tackles. Compare that to Week 6, where he played under 25% deep and hit 10 combined tackles for the first time in 2024.

Top IDP Players To Start in Week 7

    Devin Lloyd, LB, Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars have been missing their top linebacker for a few weeks, and while the production is not the same, Devin Lloyd has been what we wanted. In his two games back from his own injury, he’s played 134 of 136 total snaps. He wasn’t even doing that to start the season, but it’s exactly what you want to see.

The production in the two games hasn’t been ideal, though. Lloyd has posted just 15 combined tackles over those two games. Week 5 was at least a step forward, as he hit nine in London. The Patriots cross the pond this week, which is a middle-of-the-road LB matchup.

Keep Lloyd locked into lineups; the stats will come.

    Myles Garrett, DE, Cleveland Browns

After a hot start to the year, elite pass rusher Myles Garrett has cooled off dramatically. I’m here to say do not panic. Sack production can ebb and flow.

There are very few players capable of posting sacks in bunches like Garrett can. He had four in the first four games and none in the last two, including goosing managers in Week 5.

Keep throwing Garrett out there, though, especially this week. Cleveland plays the Cincinnati Bengals, which is at least a mid-pack matchup and could even be a plus. When taking out a hapless Panthers’ pass rush, the Bengals have allowed an average of three sacks per game and four last week.

Lock Garrett into your lineups weekly.
