The 6-6 Georgia State Panthers will play the 6-6 Utah State Aggies in the 2023 Idaho Potato Bowl. How many NFL Draft prospects will play in this game, and what are their projections at the next level?
Idaho Potato Bowl Prospect Preview
The Idaho Potato Bowl won’t have too much NFL Draft relevance this year. Georgia State’s roster, in particular, has been obliterated by the transfer portal. Potential prospects like RB Marcus Carroll and WR Robert Lewis transferred to the SEC, and the team’s top two 2024 prospects both opted out.
Linebacker/safety hybrid Jontrey Hunter is on track to appear at the East-West Shrine Bowl, where he’ll show off his versatility at 6’2″, 240 pounds. Meanwhile, athletic and powerful offensive tackle Travis Glover also opted out to begin his training.
Georgia State NFL Draft Prospects
Darren Grainger, QB
He won’t have his top receiving threat, but Darren Grainger is still a name to keep an eye on as the Panthers take on the Aggies in this bowl game. Grainger is a three-year starter for the Panthers, who threw for 2,364 yards, 17 scores, and seven picks in 2023 while upping his completion percentage to 67%.
Grainger stands at a lean 6’4″, and his arm isn’t the strongest. His mechanics can also be a bit inefficient at times. But Grainger provides bright glimpses of downfield ball placement, and he’s also rushed for over 2,000 yards and 17 touchdowns in his GSU career.
Kevin Swint, EDGE
A former highly-touted recruit, Kevin Swint transferred from Clemson to Georgia State in 2023, and he experienced some measured success as a pressure and pursuit defender, racking up four sacks and seven tackles for loss.

At 6’3″, 235 pounds, Swint has the burst, bend, and length but 2025 might be his cycle.
Gavin Pringle, CB
Gavin Pringle was a three-time all-conference honoree at Bucknell before transferring to Georgia State. He had three interceptions and 15 pass breakups in 2022, and in his lone year at Georgia State, he nabbed four picks.
Pringle’s playmaking ability can’t go overlooked.
Utah State NFL Draft Prospects
Terrell Vaughn, WR
Standing at just 5’7″, 175 pounds, Terrell Vaughn won’t win over evaluators with his size. But within his mold, he has impressive explosiveness, throttle control, and route running chops, and he amassed 81 catches for 847 yards and 10 scores in 2023. He also has valuable kick-returning experience, which could earn him interest as a special teams threat.
Michael Anyanwu, CB
At 5’9″, 180 pounds, Michael Anyanwyu is unlikely to command draft capital. But he’s an experienced cover man who put up a pick and 11 pass breakups in 2022 before adding five PBUs to his career total in 2023. His 2023 production doesn’t pop, but he’s a fleet-footed, energetic, and fluid CB whose natural coverage building blocks hold merit.
