The Week 7 NFL Sunday slate of games comes to an end with a primetime matchup between two AFC teams looking to remain in the thick of the playoff race. Injuries have been significant in affecting the trajectory of both squad’s seasons, but most of the star faces will be there under the Sunday night lights. Who is playing tonight, what time does the game start, and how can you watch it?

Who Plays on Sunday Night Football Tonight?

    Teams
    Miami Dolphins vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

    Location
Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, FL

Sunday Night Football tonight will feature two teams that were headed in vastly opposite directions through the season’s first few weeks, but they head into this matchup closer in record than anyone would’ve expected back in September.

The Miami Dolphins were flying high at 3-0 but have dropped three straight after losing Tua Tagovailoa to injury. With Tua back at the controls, Miami is hoping this week can represent a bounce-back matchup for a team that seemed justified in having Super Bowl aspirations just a few weeks ago.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, on the other hand, looked like one of the league’s worst teams before taking down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6 to claw up to 2-4 on the year. Rookie Kenny Pickett has had his fair share of ups and downs, and Miami’s defense will present another tough test for the rookie passer.

While the Dolphins defense has given up a few too many big plays in recent weeks, it boasts some talented playmakers in the safety tandem of Jevon Holland and Brandon Jones, cornerback Xavien Howard, edge rushers Melvin Ingram and Jaelan Phillips, and defensive tackle Christian Wilkins. That group could make Pickett’s life difficult come Sunday night.

The biggest story of the night will be Tua’s return. Following the most widely tracked recovery from a concussion in NFL history, Miami’s starting quarterback will return to an offense that looked to be one of the league’s best before he went down.

Pittsburgh’s defense is in for an exhausting night of following Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Raheem Mostert all over the field, and the Dolphins brass is hoping that Tua being back in the fold will allow this offense to once again be the talk of the league.

The opening line for this game sits at Dolphins (-7), one that makes sense if you consider how capable Miami looked when Tua has been under center this season.

PFN’s Betting Director BJ Rudell broke down this game in his Week 7 picks and predictions.

“Same point spread as earlier this week and same predictions. Miami should take this one, thanks in large part to the expected return of Tua Tagovailoa. But I remain concerned with their running game, which has devolved into “Let’s hope Raheem Mostert stays healthy.” This should be an entertaining game that falls within the spread.”
