Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert enters Week 15 as the NFL’s rushing touchdown leader with 16. He’s been with the Dolphins since signing as a free agent in March 2022 after spending some time in San Francisco 49ers with Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel when he was an assistant there.
Mostert, who is in his ninth season, is 31 years old.
Raheem Mostert’s Many Stops in His Career
Mostert’s career began with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015 as an undrafted free agent. He made the most of his audition and led the NFL in the preseason with 351 yards from scrimmage. The Eagles had three veteran running backs on the roster and moved Mostert to the practice squad, but he was released after a couple of weeks.
Mostert bounced around the league in 2015, playing games with the Dolphins, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Cleveland Browns. In 2016, his hopes of making the Browns’ regular-season roster were dashed at the end of training camp when he was cut.
He spent time with the New York Jets and Chicago Bears before finding a home with the 49ers at the end of 2016. The Purdue product went back and forth between the practice squad in San Francisco until settling in as the team’s return specialist.
Mostert started to get more rush attempts in 2019 and responded with 772 yards and eight touchdowns. Injuries slowed his production during the next two seasons with the 49ers, and he moved on to play for McDaniel in Miami.
A Breakout Season
Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle were the most-mentioned names when discussing the Dolphins’ offense at the start of the season. Mostert quickly added his name to the group as the Miami offense took off at an incendiary pace.
Mostert scored three touchdowns in the first two games before scoring four times in the Dolphins’ 70-20 win over the Denver Broncos in Week 3. He had 240 rush yards through three games.

Mostert scored three touchdowns in a win against the Carolina Panthers in Week 6 to bring his season total to 11. When asked about fans making Raheem signs, he said, “It’s pretty cool. One of the video guys put that in my locker, laminated and all. I was like, ‘Yeah, let me go ahead and cherish these moments.’ It’s fun, man, honestly.”
Mostert’s next rushing touchdown will give him the Dolphins’ single-season record with 17. He’s currently tied with Ricky Williams, who rushed for 16 touchdowns in 2002. Mostert’s next touchdown of any kind will be his 19th of the season, breaking a tie with Mark Clayton, who had 18 touchdowns in 1984, for the franchise record.
