Super Bowl 58 is shaping up to be the most expensive yet, with the lowest prices coming in at about $8,000.
Super Bowl 58 Prices
According to TickPick, this is the most expensive Super Bowl on record, with the average purchase price now standing at $9,847, which is 70% more expensive than last year’s big game.
TickPick also reports that 37% of purchases are coming from California, while only 7% are coming from Kansas and Missouri.
The “get-in” price has dipped below $8,000, with the cheapest ticket available currently selling for $7,800 — a $388 decrease since Monday. The biggest purchase thus far has been for six tickets in Section 336, Row 7, for $14,810 a ticket — $88,860 total.
In the last 10 years, the cheapest tickets sold for the Super Bowl have been much lower. In 2014, when the Denver Broncos took on the Seattle Seahawks, the lowest prices were $1,250.
In the 2022 Cincinnati Bengals vs. LA Rams Super Bowl, the cheapest tickets were $1,733. Last year, when the Philadelphia Eagles took on the Kansas City Chiefs, the lowest ticket prices were $2,880.
The “get-in” ticket price for the Super Bowl has increased 524% since 2014.
The defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are headed to the big game for the fourth time in five years. The last time they faced the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl was in 2020, when the Chiefs were victorious in a comeback win.
The 2020 game was previously the most expensive Super Bowl on record, according to TickPick, which had an average purchase price of $6,370. Those tickets were 35% less expensive than this year’s matchup.
The game being held in Las Vegas is a “big factor for the record-high demand,” Brett Goldberg, co-CEO of TickPick, told CNN, because the “location is turning a three-hour game into a week full of festivities for fans attending.”
“Over the 12 months, Las Vegas has slowly begun to solidify itself as the sports capital of the US, and this might be its crowning moment,” he said.
As per usual, ticket prices might decline as the game gets closer, with resellers looking to offload their seats for lower prices. But it likely will not be a major decline.
Goldberg said while they could “potentially see prices fall” over the next two weeks, prices didn’t decline before the 2020 Super Bowl matchup when both teams previously played.
“So while we might see prices dip, it may not be significant,” Goldberg said.
Scarcity is also playing a part in the high ticket prices, TickPick vice president of growth Matt Ferrel told the Athletic. Allegiant Stadium has 65,000 seats, which ranks 27th among the 32 NFL stadiums by capacity.
The face value of the tickets is significantly less. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told the Athletic that face-value tickets come at a variety of price points — $950, $1,950, $2,600, $3,250, all the way up to suite tickets in the $8,000 range.
The teams receive 75% of the tickets, with the participating teams getting around 17 percent each, McCarthy said. The rest of the tickets go to the league office.
The teams hold a lottery among season-ticket holders and also hold back some tickets for their partners.
