The Baltimore Ravens head into the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs fresh off a much-earned first-round bye week. The No. 1 seed in the AFC looks ahead to this weekend’s clash with the Houston Texans as they look to go on a Super Bowl run this year.
Aided by an MVP candidate at quarterback and a defense playing at an elite level, the Ravens look to be the class of the league. However, before this season, just how much winning was the franchise doing? We take a closer look at the Ravens and their championship history that has led them to this point.
Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl History
The Ravens are a relatively new organization compared to some of the older teams we have come to know in the NFL. While some teams have been in the league since its inception, the Ravens’ organization was created and entered the league in 1996.
Just a mere 28 years into their existence, the Ravens have already surpassed many other organizations that have come before them. Over that span, Baltimore has won a total of two Super Bowls with the first coming in 2001 and another in 2013.
In their first championship game in Super Bowl XXXV, they dismantled the New York Giants 34-7. A heroic defensive effort met by an offensive attack that was far too much for the Giants to handle secured the Ravens their first-ever Lombardi Trophy.

The second and most recent championship the Ravens won came in Super Bowl XLVII against the San Francisco 49ers. It was a battle of the Harbaugh brothers as both Jim and John were the head coaches of the two squads that duked it out until the very end, resulting in a 34-31 Ravens victory.
While it has been over a decade since its last win, the fact Baltimore won two titles in its first 20 seasons of existence is impressive and a mark of a well-run franchise.
Looking To Add to the Trophy Case
For a franchise that was able to find such success early on in its infancy, an 11-year drought for them must feel like ages. Fast forward to the current day, and the chances for the Ravens to take home another title are as good as ever.
Quarterback Lamar Jackson is looking to be the league MVP, while the Ravens’ defense has been suffocating opposing offenses. Anything can happen, and it will need to prove it on the field, but Baltimore looks primed to show the rest of the league that it is once again back on top.
