How Many Times Have the Kansas City Chiefs Beat Josh Allen in the Playoffs?

Coming into the 2023 Divisional Round, Allen has appeared in nine playoff games in five different seasons. His record in those games is 5-4, with just two of the matchups coming against the Chiefs.

In his two games against the Chiefs, Allen and the Bills have gone 0-2. The matchups took place in back-to-back years, 2020 and 2021. Here’s a look at each game.

The first matchup between Allen and the Chiefs in the postseason came on Jan. 24, 2021, in the AFC Championship Game. The Chiefs dominantly won the game, 38-24, with the Chiefs outscoring the Bills in both halves.

In the outing, Allen completed 28 of 48 passes for 287 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He did, however, add seven carries for 88 yards on the ground. He took four sacks and had a 52 quarterback rating.

The second game came on Jan. 24, 2021, in the AFC Divisional Round. The game is infamously known as the Chiefs’ 13-second comeback game. The Chiefs won the game 42-36 in overtime.

In the game, Allen completed 27 of 37 passes for 329 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. He also carried the ball 11 times for 68 yards. The teams combined for 34 points in the fourth quarter and overtime.

Allen threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Gabe Davis, leaving the Chiefs just 13 seconds left while down three points. However, the Chiefs drove down the field in just two plays, with Harrison Butker nailing a 49-yard field goal to send it to overtime. The Chiefs received the ball first in overtime, scoring a walk-off touchdown.

The result of that game and how it transpired in overtime was what led to the changing of postseason overtime rules. Now, both teams will receive the ball at least once in overtime.

However, the Chiefs and Bills’ matchup this season will be different than in years past. The matchup will take place in Buffalo, meaning it is the first non-Super Bowl game Patrick Mahomes has ever traveled to in the postseason. The matchup will kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
