As a three-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Super Bowl MVP, and two-time NFL MVP, Patrick Mahomes has an incredible resume, especially considering he’s only 29 years old.
Even if he never played another down, Mahomes would go down as an all-time great and future Hall of Famer. While Tom Brady is widely regarded as the GOAT, Mahomes has the best chance of dethroning him. Let’s take a look at Mahomes’ accomplishments thus far, including his playoff performances and how many Super Bowls he’s won.
How Many Super Bowls Has Patrick Mahomes Won?
Mahomes has led the Chiefs to four Super Bowls in his career, winning three of them.
His first Super Bowl appearance was in 2019 against the San Francisco 49ers. With the Chiefs trailing by 10 points after the third quarter, Mahomes led a fourth-quarter rally. He completed 26-of-42 passes for 286 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions while adding nine rushes for 29 yards and one touchdown. The Chiefs scored 21 points in the final quarter to beat the 49ers, 31-20, in Super Bowl LIV.
The key play was when Mahomes connected with wide receiver Tyreek Hill on a 44-yard pass on third and 15 with less than eight minutes remaining in the contest. Mahomes was in just his second season as an NFL starter, and he earned MVP honors.

En route to Super Bowl 54, Mahomes led a massive comeback from 24 points down in the second quarter to the Houston Texans, which led to the Chiefs prevailing 51-31. In the AFC Championship Game, they comfortably defeated the Tennessee Titans 35-24.
His 2019 campaign had some statistical downturn from his magical debut season as a starter, but the team was more effective overall and finished the campaign by hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. Despite missing two games, Mahomes still finished the season throwing for 4,031 yards and 26 touchdowns while completing almost 66% of his passes.
The following season, Mahomes led the Chiefs back to the Super Bowl after the team finished with the AFC’s No. 1 overall seed and a 14-2 record. However, the Chiefs were blown out by Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 31-9. The Buccaneers’ powerful pass rush dominated the Chiefs’ offensive line, and Kansas City came up short.
It was the most human that Mahomes has looked on the big stage. He completed only 26 of 49 attempts for 270 yards and two interceptions, and the Chiefs’ offense didn’t score a single touchdown. The Chiefs were favored entering the game, but it didn’t take long for the Bucs to pull away and Brady to win his seventh and final Super Bowl.
Super Bowl 57 against the Philadelphia Eagles was Mahomes’ third trip to the Super Bowl, and he helped the Chiefs defeat the Eagles, 38-35. Kansas City trailed by six points entering the fourth quarter, but Mahomes led another fourth-quarter rally. He threw two touchdown passes as the Chiefs scored 17 points in the final quarter. Mahomes was named the game’s MVP, becoming the 13th quarterback to win at least two Super Bowls.
Last season, the Chiefs defeated the 49ers, 25-22, putting the Chiefs, Mahomes, and Andy Reid in elite company. Kansas City is just the ninth team in NFL history to win back-to-back Super Bowls.
Mahomes joins Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, Troy Aikman, and Brady as quarterbacks who have won at least three Super Bowls. Also, Mahomes has now won three Super Bowl MVPs, something only Montana and Brady have done.
Mahomes’s résumé is already legendary, and considering he’s still just 29 years old, he’s far from finished.
