Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is one of the most respected head coaches in the NFL. He is praised for his ability to keep his team steady and focused through all of the ups and downs. Tomlin has also never seen a losing season as a head coach and is someone with an extensive coaching résumé.
As the Steelers head to Buffalo to take on the Bills in a tough Wild Card matchup, Pittsburgh will look to Tomlin to lead them to pull off the upset over a good Josh Allen-led team.
While Tomlin is no stranger to the playoffs, does he have the same familiarity when it comes to winning a Lombardi Trophy?
Mike Tomlin’s Super Bowl History
Tomlin has two Super Bowl championships under his belt — one as an assistant for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII and the other as the Steelers’ head coach in Super Bowl XLIII.
Tomlin’s first championship came when he was Tampa Bay’s defensive backs coach. The team faced the then-Oakland Raiders and went on to win the game handily, with a final score of 48-21.
The score ended up looking much closer than it actually was. Despite the Raiders scoring 21 points, the contest was actually 34-9 heading into the final quarter, as Tomlin and his defense put on a show in the biggest game of the year.

Tomlin went on to win a Super Bowl with his current team as well. As the head coach, it was with a team he built and a culture he created. The Steelers battled Larry Fitzgerald and the Arizona Cardinals in what was a thrilling 27-23 Pittsburgh victory.
A close contest throughout, the Steelers regained the lead for good with less than a minute remaining following a Santonio Holmes touchdown reception. The win gave Pittsburgh the most Super Bowls of any NFL franchise at that time.
Tomlin Looking To Add to His Legacy
Once again, Tomlin has his team in the playoffs fighting for a Super Bowl. This time, however, they’re a No. 7 seed and a big underdog.
While the odds do not look to be in Pittsburgh’s favor for a long playoff run that ends in a Super Bowl title, there isn’t anyone who knows Tomlin and what he has accomplished that is going to limit him and his capabilities.
The next chapter is still unwritten for the coach, and it all starts on Monday afternoon against a red-hot Bills team in a frozen atmosphere.
