How many preseason games have the Baltimore Ravens won in a row?

How many consecutive preseason games have the Baltimore Ravens won? Record streak on the line Thursday night against the Titans.

When the Baltimore Ravens take to the field this Thursday night for their first preseason game of 2022, they will be looking to continue their record-breaking preseason victory streak. How many preseason games have the Ravens won, and how does their impressive record compare to some other preseason victory streaks in the NFL?

Ravens can extend current preseason win streak

The official start of the NFL season kicked off last week when the Las Vegas Raiders defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-11 in the Hall of Fame Game. Now, the Ravens and Titans will be part of a two-game Thursday Night Football event which opens a full slate of preseason action over the following three days.

On the line for the Ravens Thursday night will be their record 20-game preseason win streak. The impressive feat has been accomplished entirely under the reign of head coach John Harbaugh and dates back to the 2016 season. Since then, the Ravens have completed five straight undefeated preseasons.

Yes, preseason victories do not technically mean anything, but Harbaugh has used the streak to help emphasize how diligently the Ravens practice, prepare, and play, regardless of the season. After their 20th victory, Harbaugh spoke about what the accomplishment means to him and the players on his team.

“I just think it’s really cool,” Harbaugh said. “A lot of guys watching on TV, with their kids, telling their kids about that accomplishment and the fact they were a part of that. That’s the most meaningful thing. There’s other aspects of it, but to me, that’s the thing that means the most.”

Not only have the Ravens been able to win 20 straight preseason games, but they have done so in a dominant fashion. According to the Action Network, during the 20-game streak, the Ravens are 17-2-1 (89.5%) against the spread since 2016, covering the spread by an average of 11.7 points per game. They currently sit as four-point favorites against the Titans Thursday night.

The Ravens surpassed the Packers for the record

Behind Baltimore, there is one other team that shined during the NFL preseason: Vince Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers. With perfect preseasons from 1959-1962, the Packers managed to win 19 straight preseason games.

Lombardi’s record was snapped in surprising fashion when his team lost a preseason battle with the College All-Stars, 20-17, in 1963. The Chicago Charities College All-Star Game was a preseason American football game played from 1934 to 1976 between the NFL champions and a team of star college seniors from the previous year. The game ended in 1976, and the All-Stars’ victory against Lombardi’s Packers was the last time the college team won a game.

When the charity game came to an end, the All-Star team finished with only nine wins out of the 42 games played, with the victory over Lombardi being one of the most notable.
