How Many Bosa Brothers Are in the NFL? Are Joey and Nick the Only Ones in the League?

Nick and Joey Bosa have set a new standard for pass rushers throughout their NFL careers, but is there another Bosa brother in the league?

Nick and Joey Bosa are two of the premier pass rushers in the NFL, causing havoc for the opposition every week. The San Francisco 49ers‘ fierce foursome up front is anchored by the pursuit and passion of dominant edge rusher Nick Bosa. Meanwhile, along with teammate Khalil Mack, Joey pairs to make one of the most intimidating tandems in the league with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Bosa brothers have dominated throughout high school and into their illustrious careers at Ohio State. The NFL talent evaluators thought highly of Joey and Nick, and both were drafted in the top five of their respective draft classes. What else is there to know about the fascinating Bosa family lineage and the NFL?

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

Are There More Than 2 Bosa Brothers in the NFL?

No. Joey and Nick are the only Bosa brothers in the NFL. If there was another terrorizing Bosa sibling out there causing havoc throughout the league, I’m guessing we would have heard of them by now.

The Bosa brothers come from an athletic family. Their father, John Bosa, also played in the NFL. In the 1987 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins selected John Bosa out of Boston College in the 1st round. Bosa was a solid player, but his sons surpassed his professional performance with relative ease.

Nick and Joey Bosa have never faced off on opposite sidelines, but if their playing careers continue on their current trajectory, it is only a matter of time. With Nick playing in the NFC with the 49ers and Joey with the Chargers in the AFC, the chances of them playing each other aren’t very high.

Have Nick and Joey Ever Been Teammates Before?

Nick and Joey Bosa did not play at Ohio State together. Joey declared for the NFL Draft as his younger brother was on his way to Columbus to play for the Buckeyes. However, the Bosa brothers did have a chance to play on the same team during their high school careers at St. Thomas Aquinas.

As of right now, who is the better player?

Nick Bosa: 45.5 sacks, 171 combined tackles
Joey Bosa: 63.5 sacks, 310 combined tackles

Based on those numbers alone, someone could make the case for Joey, but the older brother has a three-year head start on his little brother. Not to suggest that Joey is a slouch by any means, but at Nick’s current trajectory, he should surpass his brother in all worthwhile statistics.

Joey and Nick play different styles. Joey is more of a base 4-3 end who can provide a lift off the edge on occasion. Nick has the juice off the edge to be a perennial double-digit sack guy. Give me Nick, but Joey is a bit underrated nationally.
