Alabama is well known for producing NFL talent, but how many current starting quarterbacks played for the Crimson Tide?

The list of Alabama Crimson Tide quarterbacks starting in the NFL grew by one this season with the addition of Bryce Young.

Alabama has a plethora of players in the league, but how many starting quarterbacks played for the Crimson Tide?

This season, four starting quarterbacks in the NFL started for Alabama: Tua Tagovailoa (Miami Dolphins), Mac Jones (New England Patriots), Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia Eagles), and Young (Carolina Panthers).

Tagovailoa and Hurts are each in their fourth year, Jones is in his third, and Young made his NFL debut this season after being selected first overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Of the four, Hurts is the only one who did not spend his entire college career at Alabama. He played for the Crimson Tide for three seasons and finished at Oklahoma.

All but Hurts, who was selected in Round 2 of the 2020 NFL Draft, were taken in the first round. Young is the only Alabama quarterback to go No. 1 overall.

Hurts won a national championship as the Crimson Tide starter in 2016 alongside Tagovailoa, who then led them to another title game appearance in 2017.

Hurts has the defending NFC champion Eagles off to a phenomenal start this season as the team looks to be the first repeat champions in 18 years. Leading the way for an 8-1 record, Hurts has completed 68.9% of his passes for 2,347 yards, 15 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

Tagovailoa has also played very well this season and has led the Dolphins to a 6-3 record, putting them atop the AFC East standings. He has completed 69.5% of his passes for 2,609 yards, 19 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

Jones became the starting quarterback for Alabama the week after Tagovailoa suffered a season-ending injury against Mississippi State in November 2019. Jones led Alabama to a win in the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2020, making him the latest quarterback to win the championship game for the Crimson Tide.

Jones has had a disappointing season so far as the Patriots, who currently sit at 2-7 and the bottom of the AFC East. So far this season, Jones has completed 64.8% of his pass attempts for 1,861 yards, 10 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

Jones earned a Pro Bowl nod in his rookie season but suffered a sophomore slump and hasn’t seemed to get out of it.

The rookie Young, the only Alabama quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy, struggled in his debut with the Panthers but has since been able to find a bit more comfort and put up better numbers. The Panthers are struggling considerably with a 1-7 record, the second worst in the league.

Young has completed 63.9% of his passes so far this season for 1,375 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Under Bryce Young, the Panthers have one of the worst passing offenses in the league.

Of the four former Alabama quarterbacks, Hurts and Tagovailoa have seen the most success. Jones has been unable to recreate the success he had in his first season, and Young is — of course — just starting.

Alabama is no stranger to producing NFL talent as they currently have 57 players on active rosters.
