‘How Am I Going To Have Fun out There?’ – 49ers CB Deommodore Lenoir Sounds Off on WR’s Trade Request to Seahawks

While DK Metcalf's trade request could be a good thing for the San Francisco 49ers, their cornerback Deommodore Lenoir isn’t too happy about it.

The Seattle Seahawks are undergoing a major shift at wide receiver. Veteran Tyler Lockett has been released, and reports indicate that DK Metcalf has requested a trade.

This could have a significant impact on the NFC West standings. While it might seem like good news for the San Francisco 49ers, cornerback Deommodore Lenoir isn’t exactly thrilled.

Deommodore Lenoir on DK Metcalf Trade Request

Lenoir, who has battled Metcalf in intense matchups over the past few seasons, shared his thoughts on Instagram Live. He said Metcalf is the main reason he enjoys playing against the Seahawks—even after their numerous on-field scuffles.

“Ya’ll cannot let D.K. leave,” Lenoir said. “Ya’ll can’t do that. How am I going to have fun out there?”

The two have had their fair share of altercations, including one in 2023 when both were ejected after a scuffle during a Week 14 game following an interception. But it seems moments like those have made their matchups more enjoyable for Lenoir.

Lenoir also took a jab at Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, saying:

“Njigba, he be crying all day…All he do is cry….Crybaby.”

He then circled back to Metcalf:

“But back to DK, we can’t let you leave, bro. Unless you want to be a Niner. That’s the only way. But then again, I like going against you. Because you’re the only receiver that’s going to be out there really on that time. You going to come and try to hit somebody in the face, and I got to show you that I ain’t no Buster. Hit you back. Then we just going at it.”

While Lenoir may have been joking, he clearly respects Metcalf as a tough opponent.

The Seahawks are reportedly allowing Metcalf to speak with other teams, and the Los Angeles Chargers are among the interested franchises, according to FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz.

Metcalf is in the final year of his three-year, $72 million extension with Seattle. The contract includes bonuses and guaranteed money through 2025. If the Seahawks trade him before June 1, they would owe $21 million in dead money but save nearly $10.9 million on the salary cap.
