Although the NFL has not yet released a full 2024 schedule with times and dates for the upcoming season’s games, we do know which opponents all 32 teams will face in 2024 along with the split of home and road games. The Houston Texans will face their usual AFC South cohorts but will also get a rematch with the Baltimore Ravens and renew the battle of Texas’ two franchises against the Dallas Cowboys.
Houston’s AFC South title this past season means it faces a first-place schedule in 2024, a slate that features eight home games and nine road bouts as AFC teams get the short end of the stick this year after hosting nine games in 2023. It all makes for a challenging schedule as the Texans aim to build on last year’s surprising 10-7 finish and playoff win.

Houston Gets Chance To Avenge Playoff Loss
The Texans surprised the NFL world when they put together a strong 2023 season, having won four or fewer games in each of their three previous campaigns. They continued to surprise by winning the AFC South title and then defeating the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.
The Cinderella season of sorts ultimately came to an end, though, with a 34-10 Divisional Round loss to the Ravens.
Houston also dropped its regular season meeting with Baltimore last year, falling 25-9 in the teams’ season opener. The Texans will get a chance at avenging those defeats in the 2024 season as they square off with a Ravens squad that will enter 2024 hungry as well after falling to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
C.J. Stroud burst onto the scene for Houston with one of the top rookie seasons by a quarterback in recent history, throwing for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and five interceptions in 15 starts.
Beating the Ravens could be a key step for the Texans and Stroud in avoiding a sophomore slump after their surprise success story this past season.
Texans Renew Battle of Intrastate Rivals
Rivalries add an additional element to sporting events that make them mean just a little bit more than even the average contest.
There is certainly a rivalry between the cities of Dallas and Houston, as two of the state’s three largest cities are linked together by Interstate 45 yet separated quite a bit by geography. The hatred between the two cities will without a doubt carry over to their fanbases and should add a bit more to the Texans’ game against the Cowboys this upcoming season.
It will be just the seventh time the two teams in opposing conferences will square off as Houston enters its 23rd year as an NFL franchise. Dallas has won four of the first six meetings, including the most recent bout with a 27-23 victory in 2022.
Houston last defeated the Cowboys in a 19-16 victory in 2018, while it had lost the previous three meetings following a 19-10 win in the first matchup back in 2002.
With the Texans seemingly on the rise after a resurgent 2023 season and Dallas aiming to finally break through after another early playoff exit, the on-field product between the teams should be strong as well.
