Hollywood Brown Asked About Future With the Chiefs, Upcoming Free Agency Prior to Super Bowl 59

Kansas City Chiefs receiver Hollywood Brown has been answering questions about his future this week in the build-up to Super Bowl 59.

Free agency is something that many veteran NFL players have to go through at some point in their careers. For some players, particularly those nearing the end of their time in the league, free agency can become an annual process. For Hollywood Brown, 15 missed games in 2024 means he’s likely to soon taste free agency for the second time in as many years.

When asked about his next move, or the possibility of re-signing with the Kansas. City Chiefs, Brown predictably denied having thought about it. With his first Super Bowl appearance fast approaching, Brown claims he’s looking no further than Sunday’s showdown in New Orleans.

‘I’ll Focus on the Game!’ Hollywood Brown Locked In on Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Hopes

With the Pro Bowl festivities concluded, the spotlight has turned to the season’s main event in New Orleans. As such, players from both the Philadelphia Eagles and Chiefs have been the subject of intense media attention.

Fulfilling part of his media duties for the week, Brown faced questions regarding his future after the Super Bowl. Brown is widely expected to hit free agency after the season, having already represented three different organizations in his six-year career.

With Brown sidelined by an upper-body injury for much of the year, it stands to reason that his unit could have fared even better than 12th by PFN’s Offense+ metric had he been healthy. But will he run it back next season? When asked about the possibility of re-signing with Kansas City in 2025, Brown replied: “I gotta say I’m not really thinking about after this game.”

“I’ll focus on the game and, you know, after that I’ll re-focus.”

    Brown’s First Super Bowl

Such a response was to be expected from a player approaching his first Super Bowl.

It can be easy to overlook how much a Super Bowl appearance can mean to a player. Football players, like all athletes, are often looked at as performers rather than people. For a player on a team like the Chiefs, who are now “regular” Super Bowl winners, the achievement of simply making it to the Big Game is even easier to overlook.

For Brown though, there are no such problems. Re-tweeting a post from February 2024 in which he expressed his desire to one day make it to a Super Bowl, Brown’s reflection was simple.

    “Thank You God.”

    Brown, Chiefs Receive Warm Sendoff

It’s safe to say that Super Bowl 59 will not be a game that the Chiefs receiver takes for granted, and it’s not lost on his community either.

In a video posted online, swarms of Brown’s neighbors can be seen lining the street to give the player a heartwarming sendoff. Two police cars escort Brown’s vehicle as it makes it’s way through a sea of red jerseys, flags, and banners.

Brown shared the video with the caption: “So Much Love Thank You All So Much.”

For a player who has only played four games for Kansas City, it’s a nice touch from a community that has welcomed him with open arms.

Regardless of where Brown is playing his football next season, this is a moment he’ll cherish when he looks back on his time with the Chiefs.
