‘He’s So Good, You Might Consider Playing Him At QB’ – NFL Analyst Jokingly Makes Strange Case for Travis Hunter if He Makes Giants

    Published on

CBS NFL analysts discuss where Colorado Buffaloes WR/CB and top prospect Travis Hunter will be taken in 2025 NFL Draft.

Earlier this week, a group of CBS analysts were discussing where Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter may end up in the 2025 NFL Draft. In the video now released to social media, one of the men believed that Hunter would be selected by the New York Giants No. 3 overall. In addition, they jokingly added that Hunter should be playing quarterback for the struggling franchise, given their lack of depth at the position.

Hunter has been a dominant force on both sides of the ball this year for the Buffaloes. He has amassed 96 receptions, 1,258 receiving yards, and 16 total touchdowns offensively. On the other side of the ball, Hunter has four interceptions and one forced fumble.

What Did NFL Analyst Predict About Travis Hunter?

When asked about which side of the ball Hunter will play for if selected by the Giants at No. 3, NFL analyst Ryan Wilson detailed their belief that Hunter should be playing on both offense and defense.

“Both, to answer that question. I mean, he’s so good you might consider playing him at quarterback because that is obviously the biggest need they have,” they stated.

He further explained how though Giants fans surely want a quarterback as their first pick next year, their recent win against the Indianapolis Colts sees them just outside the top two projected QB talents, Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward. However, he explained how talented Hunter was and what he could bring to the franchise.

“What does Travis Hunter bring you? He’s the best player in this draft class and it might not be close. He is special and he does things that very few people on planet Earth can do,” he explained.

    Travis Hunter NFL Outlook

Hunter is widely expected to be taken very high in next April’s NFL Draft. Pro Football Network’s Reese Decker shares this sentiment, with Hunter being selected third overall by the New York Giants in his latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft.

“Still in desperate need of a franchise quarterback, the Giants find themselves on the outside looking in and will have to address their need either in a later round or outside of the draft altogether. Taking the third-ranked quarterback would simply be a drastic reach at this point in the draft.

The only way to operate with both quarterbacks off the board is to take the best player available. Travis Hunter is elite value with the third overall selection and is one of the most unique prospects to enter the NFL Draft.

The 2024 Heisman Trophy winner was a dynamic presence on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball and has yet to declare a position for the NFL Draft, leaving the door open for him to play both ways as a pro.

As a receiver, Hunter has an exceptional feel for space, separation speed, smooth and efficient change of direction, elite body control, strong and natural hands, and always finds a way to come down with the football. He is a dynamic playmaker who always rises to the occasion. Hunter plays to win.

On the defensive side, Hunter is equally impressive. A physical and willing tackler, he showcases elite ball skills, sharp instincts, and quick, decisive break ability. Hunter has a knack for making plays regardless of his position. He plays to win.

Whether he focuses on one position or continues his two-way dominance, Hunter is a can’t-miss prospect and an exceptional value at No. 3 overall.”

It appears that this year’s draft may be more about team needs than what it has been in the past, where there is a clear number one overall prospect. Despite this, many analysts seem to believe that Hunter won’t be waiting too long on draft night to hear his name called.
