“He’s 100% Correct”: NFL Fans Defend Travis Hunter Amid Backlash Over Shohei Ohtani Comments

NFL fans boldly defended Travis Hunter's point of view on football being harder than baseball as a two-way player.

Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter is one of the most hyped-up players from the 2024 college football season and is projected to be the No. 1 overall draft pick.

The 2024 Heisman Trophy winner is popular for his unique set of skills, but many analysts believe it’s not sustainable for him to play both defensive back and wide receiver in the NFL.

Despite the expert opinion, Hunter remains confident in his skills and thinks what he can do is harder than what Shohei Ohtani does in baseball, drawing mixed reactions from fans.

NFL Fans React to Travis Hunter’s Shohei Ohtani Comments

The football world was left taken aback when the Colorado star said he thinks what he does in football is harder, as it is much more challenging for the body.

Hunter said Ohtani, who has been a two-way player since 2013, is a great player but that “you gotta do a lot in football.”

Reaffirming his confidence in his abilities, Hunter said that he’s been doing this for a long time, and he feels like he can keep doing it, hoping that the team he lands with gives him opportunities to go out there and give his 100% at both positions.

These statements drew mixed reactions from fans. While some were upset about the comparison with the MLB legend, others appreciated Hunter’s confidence and agreed with his point of view.

“He’s 100% correct. Football is brutal on the body. When he’s a Pro Bowl two-way player on offense and defense, let us know. He’s going to be a locker room distraction.” one fan commented.

Another fan pointed out, “The number of people saying baseball is harder is insane. How many times in a year does Ohtani get hit by a 250-pound monster while running at full speed?”

“Bartolo Colon made $100+ million dollars and he definitely wasn’t the typical ‘athletic’ player build. Baseball definitely ain’t close to the shape you have to be in to play football.” another fan highlighted.

“No, it may be more taxing, but that’s about it. In terms of skills, what Ohtani does is WAY harder. Completely different specializations. Pitchers alone are already super hard to find. Extremely rare skill to be able to throw with that speed and accuracy required of MLB aces.” another fan added.

“Completely agree! It takes a whole other level of athleticism to play both sides of the ball!! Let alone the endurance.” another fan commented.

“He didn’t say that Football has more talent, or is harder to play than Baseball, he said Football is harder on the body; which is true it is. People need to learn how to read and absorb the context correctly.” another fan added.

The 2025 NFL Draft is set to take place in Green Bay, Wisconsin, from April 24-26.
