Has Tyreek Hill Ever Won a Super Bowl? A Look Back at the WR’s Career

    Published on

Tyreek Hill has been an impact player in the NFL since his rookie season. Has he been able to win a Lombardi Trophy along the way?

Tyreek Hill was unquestionably the league’s top receiver this season, leading the NFL in receiving yards (1,799), touchdown receptions (13), and receiving yards per game (112.4).

Now the task for Hill will be to bring the Miami Dolphins back to glory with their first Super Bowl in 50 years.

Revisiting Tyreek Hill’s Career With the Chiefs

Hill was a fifth-round selection by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2016 NFL Draft, and he quickly established himself as one of the premier returners in the NFL. In his rookie season, he earned first-team All-Pro honors as a kick returner and scored touchdowns four different ways that season.

Of his team-leading 12 touchdowns in the 2016 season, Hill had six TD receptions, three rushing touchdowns, two punt return scores, and one kickoff return for a touchdown.

The next season saw Hill reach the 1,000-yard mark in receiving for the first time, finishing with a team-high 1,183 yards and seven touchdown receptions. He would go on to have 1,000-yard seasons in three of his next four seasons (2018, 2020, and 2021).

Along with reaching the Pro Bowl in all six seasons with the Chiefs, Hill earned first-team All-Pro honors as a wide receiver twice with Kansas City (2018 and 2020). Which season was his best with the Chiefs is debatable, but in 2020 he had a career-high 15 touchdown receptions.

The first of Hill’s two appearances in the Super Bowl came in the 2019 season when he helped lead the Chiefs to the second Super Bowl title in franchise history (their first title came in Super Bowl IV).

Although he did not win the MVP, Hill was arguably the best player on the field in this game. He finished with a game-high nine receptions (on 16 targets) and 105 receiving yards. His 44-yard reception midway through the fourth quarter helped to set up the first of Kansas City’s three touchdowns in the final quarter, as the Chiefs rallied for a 31-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

The next season saw the Chiefs’ effort to repeat as Super Bowl champions thwarted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who were playing on their home field at Raymond James Stadium.

Hill finished with seven receptions (on 10 targets) for 73 yards and no touchdowns once again, as the Chiefs were limited to just three field goals in a 31-9 loss to the Buccaneers.

When Was Tyreek Hill Traded to the Miami Dolphins?

Following the 2021 season, Hill and the Chiefs could not agree on a contract extension, leading Kansas City to deal the All-Pro to the Miami Dolphins on March 23, 2022. The Chiefs received five draft picks from the Dolphins, while Hill received a four-year contract worth $120 million.

Has Hill Won a Super Bowl With the Dolphins?

In two seasons with the Dolphins, Hill has put up spectacular numbers, with 238 total receptions (119 each season) for over 3,500 yards receiving — at least 1,700 each season.

But last season ended with a loss to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card playoffs. With an injured Tua Tagovailoa unable to play (concussion), the Dolphins were left with rookie Skylar Thompson at quarterback. Hill finished with seven receptions but for only 69 yards and, again, no touchdown receptions.
