In this week’s episode of Handle Your Business, I look at the upcoming vote for the NFL Players Association and the proposed Collective Bargaining Agreement. The latest on that and some opposition from both owners and key players. Could the NFLPA, the NFL, and its players finally come to an agreement on a new CBA with the upcoming vote?
Is the trade machine rolling?
There’s a raft of new deals and trades to discuss. Carolina and the L.A. Chargers swapped high priced accomplished offensive lineman. The Chargers also re-signed Austin Ekeler and made him a top-10 salaried running back, but perhaps he’s not as effective as his numbers suggest.
Plus, the Trent Williams saga may finally come to an end this week with the Redskins permitting him to seek a trade. Washington is working hard to beat the franchise tag deadline to sign Brandon Scherff to a long-term deal, but can they do it? New Orleans has made a move to ensure that Taysom Hill stays with them, but is he a potential solution for the Saints for their future QB?
I also take a look at Dallas’s offer to Dak Prescott, which has made significant headlines for the historic nature of the money offered. But the contract isn’t as impressive as it sounds, and I explain why.
CBA Vote
Not only have owners expressed reservations about the CBA, but among its most vocal critics is Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers was one of 14 players reps to vote not on sending the deal to the full union for a vote and turned his fire on fellow players. Rodgers questioned how closely his fellow players are looking at the deal and accused them of a lack of critical thinking. Some owners may welcome Rodgers’ criticism as the proposal was not approved unanimously by them. Did the owners really give up too much?
