In this week’s episode of Handle Your Business, I take a look at the latest vote on the Collective Bargaining Agreement by the 32 player representatives of the NFL Players Association. After that vote, I break down the next stage in the ratification process of the CBA and some key details that emerged about the proposal this week.
Who’s going to get franchise tagged?
Franchise tag season is underway, and some big names are likely to be tagged. It looks like Dallas will give Dak Prescott the exclusive tag, and the price for that is eyewatering? That will be discussed and what are the chances that the Cowboys sign their franchise tag player to a long-term deal. I also discuss the report that the Cincinnati Bengals will tag A.J. Green? Does Green even want to return to Cincinnati?
Are you looking for a tight end in free agency? It’s relatively slim pickings, but OSM can give you a guide to who the best players at the position are and the surprising name that’s high up the list. Then it’s the Trent Williams saga, which took another turn this week with his demand for a new deal. I look at what a new contract for him could cost.
NFLPA and the CBA ratification
In last week’s episode, we talked about the first details of the new CBA proposal the NFL’s made. Well, more details have come out, and it underscores the divide between the higher-salaried players who oppose this agreement because of the 17th game and the lower-salaried players that will see significant benefits in the new deal. There are major changes that will benefit practice squad, recently drafted players, and incoming rookies that may win votes in favor of this deal. I’ll also discuss the new comments the NFLPA’s Executive Director DeMaurice Smith made and his reading of the tea leaves over the upcoming full vote of the union.
