Late in the matchup, Xavier Legette had an opportunity to make a big play for the Carolina Panthers. The rookie wide receiver, however, could not convert.
Now, he has to face the rage of Hall of Famer and three-time Super Bowl winner Shannon Sharpe. The former Denver Broncos star didnāt mince his words in criticism of Legette.
Shannon Sharpe Shares His Disappointment With Xavier Legette
The Philadelphia Eagles were leading the game 22-16. In the dying seconds of the fourth quarter, Bryce Young threw a deep pass towards Legette. The 23-year-old caught the ball, just before the end zone and waltzed inside.
However, the referee didnāt award the touchdown, and replays later showed that the rookie had dropped the ball in the process of catching it. In the end, the Eagles won the game, with the Panthers extending their losing streak to three.

Moments after this dropped catch, the 56-year-old former tight end took to his X account (formerly Twitter) and blasted the WR. āLegette gotta start making those plays. Enough of this my bad ish and next time. That was the next time. DAMN,ā he tweeted.

Legette ended the game with two catches for 39 yards and zero TDs.
In 13 outings this season, Legette has registered 39 catches for 432 yards and four touchdowns.
Panthers QB Reassures His Faith in Legette
The rookieās mistake turned out to be the costliest one of the entire game. However, Young is not too jolted because of it. NBCās Darin Gantt reported that despite the loss, Young has faith in his rookie receiver.
Per Gantt, Young has plans to talk to Legette and assure him that he still believes in him and will be throwing to him in the future as well. Young further added that he has confidence in the rookie WR.
The Panthers are out of the playoff race this season and are playing for pride. In Week 15, they will once again face off against an NFC East squad — the Dallas Cowboys — next Sunday.
