A move that has been rumored to be in the making for months has finally taken place as the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to trade dynamic pass rusher Haason Reddick to the New York Jets.
We take a look at the trade details, the impact he will make on his new team, what this means for the former Eagles pass rusher, and much more.
Eagles Trade Hasson Reddick to the New York Jets
According to multiple reports, the deal to send Reddick to New York to join the Jets is for a conditional 2026 third-round pick that could become a second-round pick if criteria are met. The 2026 pick becomes a second-rounder if Reddick has 67.5% playtime this season and has 10 or more sacks. If not, it will drop back down to a 2026 third-round selection.
Reddick’s time with the Eagles had long been rumored to be coming to a close, and with former Jets pass rusher Bryce Huff signing with the Eagles at the onset of the free agency period, the writing began to appear on the wall for Reddick and his time in Philly.
For the Eagles, the move makes a lot of sense, as they understood Reddick was looking for a new contract; instead of giving him what he was looking for, they went out and got a younger replacement in Huff. They were able to trade Reddick to an AFC opponent while getting premium draft capital in return.
Howie Roseman is known for being creative and unafraid to make moves, and while this looks to be a win-win for both parties involved, this could be viewed as another shrewd business move by the Eagles’ front office.
Reddick’s Fit With the Jets
As Reddick turns the page and begins his time in the Big Apple, one could wonder what his fit will be with his new team. The Jets already boast a pass-rushing group that includes John Franklin-Myers and Jermaine Johnson. Now with Reddick in the fold, he will assuredly slide into a starting role and bring more juice to their defensive edge.
The Jets once again look to be all in as they try and build around QB Aaron Rodgers in hopes of securing a Super Bowl title. Reddick comes in and fills the hole created when Huff left in free agency. He again serves as a playmaking piece on the edge for an already talented and deep Jets defensive unit.
Philadelphia Eagles’ EDGE Depth Chart in 2024
For the Eagles, they get younger with this trade. Along with having Huff in the fold, they can give more opportunities to Josh Sweat and second-year pass rusher Nolan Smith, who has the front office excited for his future.

The Eagles have a young and promising defensive line, and with Reddick being on the older side of that unit, this long-rumored move made a lot of sense for the franchise.
The Eagles under Vic Fangio will be going under a bit of a change in 2024, and shedding salary while adding another premium draft pick down the line is not a bad move for a team that already boasts a talented roster.
