Green Bay Packers 2024 Mock Draft: Kamari Lassiter and Mike Sainristil Fix the Secondary Problems

    Published on

In this 7-round 2024 NFL Mock Draft, the Green Bay Packers look to address their issues in the secondary, loading up on defensive backs.

The season is now at an end for the Green Bay Packers after being knocked out of the playoffs. Following an up-and-down season, Packers fans will at least feel confident they have something in Jordan Love. They also have a young set of receivers to work alongside him.

They do, however, need to address the defense and the secondary in particular. They can do just that in the 2024 NFL Draft, and using the PFN Mock Draft Simulator, who could find themselves in Green Bay?

Green Bay Packers 2024 NFL Draft Picks

The Packers enter the 2024 NFL Draft with eight picks, including four picks in the second and third rounds. The picks will allow them to spend early capital attacking their positions of need, especially on defense, which needs a lot of work.

    • Round 1, Pick 25: Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State
    • Round 2, Pick 41: Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia
    • Round 2, Pick 58: Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M
    • Round 3, Pick 88: Javon Bullard, CB, Georgia
    • Round 3, Pick 92: Mike Sainristil, CB, Michigan
    • Round 4, Pick 122: Dillon Johnson, RB, Washington
    • Round 6, Pick 186: Tahj Washington, WR, USC
    • Round 7, Pick 217: Joe Milton, QB, Tennessee

Green Bay Packers 7-Round 2024 NFL Mock Draft

Round 1, Pick 25: Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State

What a fantastic pick this would be. Taliese Fuaga is one of the top tackles in the 2024 NFL Draft. It seems David Bakhtiari has played his last snap as a Packer, and finding a replacement is imperative for Green Bay.

While he has played right tackle in college, there is no reason why Fuaga couldn’t flip to the other side in the NFL. He is a high-floor, high-ceiling player and is one of the blue-chip talents in this draft class.

Round 2, Pick 41: Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia

Kamari Lassiter would be a good pickup in this range. At 6’0” and 180 pounds, he isn’t the biggest, but you would never guess it when watching the tape.

The Georgia CB is a physical, hard-hitting, explosive prospect who can lock down one of the outside spots in the Packers’ secondary. His long speed is more than good enough, and his anticipation, instincts, and awareness make him an outstanding prospect in Round 2.

Round 2, Pick 58: Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M

It could be that De’Vondre Campbell is on his way out in Green Bay, so it is entirely plausible that the Packers need to find another answer at the linebacker position.

Edgerrin Cooper is one of the top linebackers in this class. He has extreme size measurables while displaying speed, toughness, and power that correlate with the modern starting LB in the NFL.

Round 3, Pick 88: Javon Bullard, CB, Georgia

Depending on where you look, Javon Bullard is either a corner or a safety. However, he may be best being labeled a pure defensive back. It is Bullard’s natural field vision and spatial awareness that make him a desirable prospect.

The Georgia DB shows great movement skills and speed, while Bullard is also more physical than his size would lead one to believe. He has played the STAR position at Georgia, but if Green Bay can carve out a role for him, Bullard has the makings of a top player in the NFL.

Round 3, Pick 92: Mike Sainristil, CB, Michigan

Okay, three secondary picks in the first three rounds may feel a little much, but it truly is the weakness of this team. And this is where the value lies.

At 5’10” and 184 pounds, Mike Sainristil is another undersized corner, but boy is he explosive. Originally a receiver who converted to corner while at Michigan, Sainristil’s ball skills and understanding of routes immediately pop.

His athleticism, speed, and footwork allow him to make up any ground, while Sainristil’s natural feel for the game allows him to read, react, and hit.

Round 4, Pick 122: Dillon Johnson, RB, Washington

AJ Dillon is slated to become a free agent in 2024, and if the Packers opt not to resign him, then they are going to need to tackle the position this offseason. They already have Aaron Jones in the backfield, but Washington’s Dillon Johnson would represent a nice change-of-pace option.

Johnson was a key factor in the Huskies getting to the College Football Championship Game. While he is a solid runner with great production, he also possesses a pass-blocking profile, which will allow him to see the field right away. Johnson also has an adequate receiving record that will complement the Packers’ rushing attack.

Round 6, Pick 186: Tahj Washington, WR, USC

The Packers are set with their young receiver core, but Tahj Washington would add depth to the room. Projecting best as a slot player, Washington has shown he can consistently produce. He creates separation while traveling through traffic over the middle, and he has burst off the line to find space.

Round 7, Pick 217: Joe Milton, QB, Tennessee

Right now, Sean Clifford is the Packers’ backup QB. However, Joe Milton is an extremely toolsy QB. He has a powerhouse of an arm, and his arm strength is incredibly special.

On the other hand, Milton isn’t ready to start in the NFL. He needs to become more accurate and learn to make better decisions. He is worth a shot late on to develop into a potential backup behind Jordan Love. With a good showing at the Senior Bowl, a team could take a chance on him earlier than this.
