The 2025 NFL Draft is shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable in recent memory, and NFL analyst Charles Davis has just added even more intrigue to the conversation. Known for his detailed draft insights and deep connections within the league, Davis has made a shocking projection that could send shockwaves through the NFL.
Who will go in the first five picks of this year’s draft is still very much up for debate. The Tennessee Titans hold the first overall selection, followed by the Cleveland Browns at No. 2, the New York Giants at No. 3, the New England Patriots at No. 4, and the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 5. Most experts expect the Titans and Browns to secure the top two quarterback prospects, but Davis’ prediction for the Giants has caught many by surprise.

New York Giants Pass on Cam Ward for Jaxson Dart
In Davis’ latest mock draft, he predicts the Titans will select Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders first overall, followed by the Browns taking Miami’s Cam Ward at No. 2. However, rather than following the expected trend and grabbing the best player available, Davis projects the Giants to make a surprising move: selecting Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart at No. 3.

Dart had a solid college career but was not widely viewed as a top-three selection. While he threw for 4,279 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions last season, his name hasn’t been mentioned in the same breath as Sanders or Ward. If the Giants take him at No. 3, it would be one of the biggest draft surprises in recent years.
PFSN’s Mock Draft Tells a Different Story
While Davis’ prediction is certainly bold, it doesn’t align with what many other experts expect—including PFSN’s latest mock draft. In our projection, the Giants still land a quarterback, but instead of Dart, they take Cam Ward at No. 3.
Our latest mock draft predicts the Las Vegas Raiders trading up for the first pick to select Sanders, with the Browns taking Travis Hunter No. 2 overall. This leaves the Giants with the other top quarterback in the class.
“The Raiders jump ahead of the New York Giants to secure their own top quarterback in this mock draft simulation, but with New York picking at No. 3, they’ll still be in a good position to select their quarterback of the future.
With his effortless arm strength and his improvisational skills, Cam Ward stakes a strong claim to being the top quarterback in this year’s class. How he compares to prospects at his position from the 2024 NFL Draft is another discussion, but you have to shoot as high as you can at the quarterback position. Ward has arguably the highest ceiling of the quarterbacks in the 2025 class.”
Ward, who shined at Miami with 4,313 passing yards, 39 passing touchdowns, and 4 rushing scores in 2024, is viewed as a strong fit for the Giants’ system. His ability to extend plays and throw on the move could give New York the offensive spark they desperately need.
Meanwhile, in PFSN’s projection, Dart doesn’t even go in the first round. Instead, he’s projected to be selected in Round 2 at No. 33 by the Giants’ in-state rivals, the New York Jets. Recently announcing the decision to part ways with Aaron Rodgers (41 years old), the Jets are now also looking for a young quarterback to develop.
Will the New York Giants Shock the NFL?
Davis’ prediction suggests that the Giants are high on Dart and willing to take him over Ward, which would be one of the most surprising moves of the entire 2025 NFL Draft. However, most experts, including those at PFSN, believe New York will take the more established prospect in Ward or the best available player if he and Shedeur are no longer on the board.
With the draft fast approaching, speculation about the top five picks continues to grow. Whether they take a proven playmaker or gamble on an unexpected name remains to be seen.
