Former NFL defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is likely best known for a decade-plus pro career spent almost entirely with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. McCoy tallied 59.5 sacks, six Pro Bowl nods, and three All-Pro selections during his career.
And he’s recently been given the opportunity to continue flexing his football intellect — just not on the interior with other 300-pounders. Instead, he’ll rely on his energetic personality and pigskin acumen serving him as an analyst with NFL Network.
McCoy is one of several big-name acquisitions swooped up by the league’s flagship channel, per Sports Illustrated. Included among them are former Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier, former Stanford head coach David Shaw, and longtime backup quarterback Chase Daniel.

What Is Gerald McCoy’s Net Worth?
We don’t know what kind of financial terms McCoy and the NFL Network agreed to in order to consummate their partnership. But we can find out what sort of cheddar he made during his pro career and, in turn, his current net worth.
As noted previously, McCoy came into the league in 2010 … just one season before the introduction of the rookie wage scale. Which means he secured the bag the moment he got drafted.
McCoy and Tampa Bay agreed to terms on a five-year, $63 million deal ahead of his rookie campaign. He started slow but broke out with a combined 14.5 sacks and two Pro Bowl appearances in 2012 and 2013.
After proving a formidable force on the interior of the defensive line, the Bucs re-upped McCoy in 2014, agreeing to terms on a seven-year, $98 million extension. He repaid them with another 72 starts, 36 sacks, and four Pro Bowl bids.

Those two contracts made up the bulk of his career earnings (as well as most of his production) and the small fortune he’s amassed in 2023. Per Celebrity Net Worth, McCoy is reportedly worth $30 million as of this writing.
For comparison, McCoy’s value slots right in between some other former standout D-linemen like Jared Allen ($35 million) and Jason Taylor ($25 million).
McCoy had a cup of coffee with the Panthers in 2019, agreeing to a one-year, $8 million deal with Carolina and repaying them with another 37 tackles and five more sacks.
That’s more or less where the book closes on his pro career. He tried to hang around, first with the Dallas Cowboys and then, after a year out of football, with the Las Vegas Raiders. He doubtlessly cashed a few checks from both clubs, but he didn’t register a single stat for either team.
The Cowboys waived him before the 2020 season started, citing an injury clause. He inked a deal near the veteran minimum with the Las Vegas Raiders ahead of 2021 but spent nearly half the year suspended without pay and the other half on the injured reserve.
It was an ignominious end to an otherwise standout pro career. But McCoy more than cashed in on his years of productivity with his aforementioned eight-digit net worth.
