When is the event, and what can we expect from the top players participating?

When is the Georgia Pro Day in 2022?

    • Date: Wednesday, March 16
    • Time: 8 AM & 4 PM ET

Georgia’s draft-eligible players will hit the field on Wednesday, March 16, beginning at 8 AM ET. Additionally, rising seniors will have the opportunity to showcase their talent at 4 PM.

Top Georgia NFL Draft prospects working out at pro day

As one would expect from a historically successful SEC team coming off a national championship victory, the Bulldogs have quite a few high-quality NFL Draft prospects. However, the majority of their highly ranked players expected to go within the first few rounds reside on the defensive side of the ball.

That’s not surprising, considering Georgia’s defense was No. 1 in points allowed (10.2), No. 2 in yards allowed (268.9), and near the top of nearly every metric in the FBS. So, who are the top players performing at Georgia’s Pro Day?

    George Pickens, WR

George Pickens ran a 4.47 40-yard dash and recorded a 10’5″ broad jump at the 2022 NFL Combine — both excellent numbers for his 6’3″ frame. Pickens has the makings of an X receiver in the NFL, but a torn ACL in his right knee robbed him of most of his true junior season in 2021. Medicals will be key for Pickens, as the talent is there, but he needs to stay healthy and put on a show at his pro day.

    Defensive linemen

The top defensive tackle drafted will be from Georgia. However, there is debate as to which player it will be. Jordan Davis is a two-gapping nose tackle and little more. But he instantly shores up the middle in run defense and produced unheard of numbers at the Combine for a man of his size. Meanwhile, Devonte Wyatt owns the quickest first step in the class. His tape is explosive, so expect him to show out in Athens.

Then we have edge rusher Travon Walker. No one should be able to move the way he does at 6’5″ and 275 pounds. In fact, Georgia even felt comfortable dropping him into coverage on occasion. He is an impressive linear athlete with immense power, and his testing numbers should reflect that.

    Linebackers

There is no shortage of physical tools in the Bulldogs’ linebacking room. Nakobe Dean won’t test as the fastest linebacker, but he definitely plays like it. He barely passes the 6’0″ threshold and doesn’t have above-average length. Nevertheless, he just sees the game at a high level and quickly identifies what the offense is doing.

Much like Dean, Channing Tindall is a violent defender whose sole purpose is to destroy ball carriers. But unlike Dean, Tindall is one of the fastest linebackers in the class and should test well at Georgia’s Pro Day.

Quay Walker is usually the third man mentioned when it comes to Georgia’s LBs. Yet, he is still one of the better LBs in the class. He isn’t elite athletically, which his pro day will reflect, but he has starter upside thanks to his vision, play recognition, and instincts.

    Lewis Cine, S

Lewis Cine will be one of the top safeties drafted this year. He is exceptional at reading routes and breaking to the ball in coverage. Additionally, he is a sound tackler with a nose for the ball. Cine turned head at the Combine with a 4.37 40-yard dash, 36.5-inch vertical, and over 11″ broad. Like the rest of his Georgie defensive teammates (outside of Dean), Cine doesn’t need to do much at his pro day.
