When it comes to Super Bowl Week — and Super Bowl Opening Night specifically — you have to expect the unexpected. Players are put in front of thousands of media members, fans in the stands, and all sorts of shenanigans you can only get during the lead-up to the Super Bowl.
With questions flying in about the game, your favorite restaurants, and anything else in between, San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle was asked about the future of the Chicago Bears of all things. Kittle grew up a Bears fan and made that clear in front of the media contingent before laying out what he would do if he was running the show in the Windy City.
George Kittle Says What He Thinks Bears Should Do at No. 1
While many have penciled USC QB prospect Caleb Williams in at the No. 1 spot for the Bears, Kittle is not one of them.

Kittle, an admitted Bears fan, offers a bit of a different path forward for his childhood team and suggests that Chicago should trade back and build around the QB they already have in-house, Justin Fields.
“Getting as many other possible picks as you possibly can,” he started before he was asked if they should build it like the Niners. “Why not? Draft a bunch of D-linemen like we do every single year. Works for us.”

Kittle further elaborated his thoughts as well as threw his support behind Fields in a more detailed approach to the situation.
“I think what the Bears should do is, personally, I think they should trade back as many picks as they can and build around a guy that they’ve been trying to build around. Give the guy some actual options. I mean, he has options, just help him out as much as you possibly can and build him up as big as you can and trust the kid.”
Kittle Shows Love to Cole Kmet
In addition to his plan for what he would do for the Bears and their future, Kittle as a de facto spokesperson for tight ends league-wide, made sure to not leave out some love for their young playmaking tight end, Cole Kmet.
“I think what Cole’s done a great job of, when he gets opportunities, he makes them. I see one-handed catches, he has multiple touchdown games.
“When he gets targets, he does a great job. He tries really hard in the run game, too, and I think he does a good job of that. So he’s gotten better as the game’s not too big for him and he plays at a high level, and when he gets the opps, he takes advantage of them.”
Kittle finished by saying the future is bright for the Bears’ TE. “I think Cole’s a good player. He started off really hot this year in my opinion, and you kind of go as your team goes sometimes, and you kind of have to deal with that. I think Cole’s a very talented player and he’s only going to get better.”
