New York Jets rising star wide receiver Garrett Wilson appeared to suffer an injury following a hit on an incompletion in the end zone against the Buffalo Bills.
Here is the latest on Wilson’s status after the Jets fell short against the Bills on “Monday Night Football.”
Garrett Wilson Injury Update: What Happened?
Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers attempted to fit in a touchdown pass to Wilson between two Buffalo defenders late in the third quarter. Wilson could not haul in the pass as Bills safeties Damar Hamlin and Taylor Rapp sandwiched Wilson to force the incompletion.
Wilson stayed down on the ground and appeared in pain following the play. At the time this article was published, the Bills were on offense, so we did not know Wilson’s status. However, when they took the field in the fourth quarter, Wilson was in the huddle and appeared to be moving fine.

In Week 6, Wilson was just starting to build more chemistry with Rodgers. The connection with Rodgers remains a work in progress, but it’s not hard to see the path here to a formidable QB-WR combination.
- Weeks 2-4: 19.2% on-field target share
- Week 5: 39.3% on-field target share
Wilson posted a 13-101-1 stat line against the overly aggressive Minnesota Vikings last week, earning quick looks from Rodgers left and right. Last week was his first finish better than WR29 this season, but it certainly won’t be his last. There are plenty of questions to be asked about this offense — Wilson’s role as a bona fide alpha is not among them.
At the time Wilson was injured, he had eight receptions for 107 yards, averaging 13.4 yards per reception. He also hauled in a touchdown catch earlier in the game.
Impact on Jets’ Offense if Wilson Is Forced To Miss Time
While Wilson re-entered the game, it’s always possible that we will hear more about it as the week goes on. Hypothetically speaking, if Wilson is forced to miss any significant amount of time, it would be a massive blow to the team’s offense.
Rodgers’ old friend Allen Lazard would likely be the biggest beneficiary of Wilson’s potential absence in fantasy football. While Lazard has struggled with drops in 2024, Rodgers continues to trust him and consistently look his way.
Lazard managed to haul in a 52-yard touchdown reception on a miraculous Hail Mary attempt to end the first half. Look for Jets RB Breece Hall to be more involved in New York’s passing attack. Hall’s role has expanded significantly, with Todd Downing taking over as the team’s offensive coordinator.

In PFN’s NFL Offense Rankings, PFN Analyst Dallas Robinson has them ranked as the 23rd-best offense in the league.
He says, “The New York Jets’ Week 3 win against the Patriots feels like a lifetime ago.
“Aaron Rodgers looked like his vintage self in that game, completing 27 of 35 attempts for 281 yards and two touchdowns in Gang Green’s 24-3 victory. His 0.45 EPA per dropback was his best mark since Week 15 of the 2021 season … when Rodgers was still a Packer.
“Since then, the Jets have scored a combined 26 points in two games, leading Jets ownership to fire head coach Robert Saleh after Week 5. Interim HC Jeff Ulbrich demoted offensive play-caller Nathaniel Hackett in favor of Todd Downing; will the switch make a difference?”
