Garrett Wilson Dynasty Profile: Fantasy Outlook, Value, Projections, and Rankings

After winning Offensive Rookie of the Year, what does Garrett Wilson's future look like, and what is his value in dynasty fantasy football leagues?

As we inch toward the new season, the ever-changing NFL landscape has player fantasy values constantly on the move. Whether you’re used to the dynasty platform or are still learning the rules, let’s dive into the latest dynasty fantasy football value of Garrett Wilson.

Garrett Wilson’s Dynasty Outlook and Value

Breece Hall wasn’t the only rookie to ball out for the Jets. Their first pick of last year’s draft, Wilson, had himself a year.

The typical yardage threshold for rookie wide receivers to go on to have successful NFL careers is roughly 500 yards. Well, Wilson doubled that … and then some.

He caught 83 of 147 targets for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns. Those numbers could’ve been even better if he didn’t have to endure nine games of the quarterback who shares his last name under center.

The rookie WR averaged 12.7 ppg, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. The Wilson-to-Wilson connection resulted in 8.8 ppg. In nine games with the combination of Joe Flacco and Mike White at quarterback, Garrett Wilson averaged 17.3 ppg. Your eyes do not deceive you. Those are WR1 numbers.

Due to playing half his rookie season with Zach Wilson, Garrett Wilson’s numbers are a bit skewed. He had just a 10.7 average depth of target and 56.5% catch rate. I expect both of those numbers to rise considerably with a non-Wilson QB playing all 17 games in 2022.

The biggest wild card in Wilson’s value is his quarterback situation. While he’s not completely QB-proof because we saw Zach Wilson destroy his fantasy value, he was still able to play at a high level with literally anyone else. Let’s not pretend as if Joe Flacco and Mike White are legitimate NFL starting quarterbacks.

Wilson merely needs below-average QB play. Imagine what he could do with a quality quarterback?

Unless Aaron Rodgers is truly finished, we should get a chance to see that in 2023. The Jets’ roster is built to win a Super Bowl. They just needed a signal-caller. Now, they have one. At least for 2023.

Acquiring Rodgers is a huge boost to Wilson’s immediate value. But it doesn’t resolve Wilson’s quarterback situation beyond 2024, at the latest. But to be perfectly candid, who cares? The end game in dynasty is to acquire talented young players. Wilson checks every box.

    Garrett Wilson’s Fantasy Ranking

Wilson will be 23 years old this season. He’s poised to be a WR1 for the next 8-10 years. While I don’t envision him ever being on the level of Justin Jefferson or Ja’Marr Chase, he could easily be viewed as good or better than the likes of Amon-Ra St. Brown, A.J. Brown, or Jaylen Waddle as early as 2024.

Wilson is currently WR7 (No. 21 overall) in our dynasty Superflex rankings. He’s directly behind those three guys.

I’m all in on Wilson for 2023 and beyond, especially with the Jets securing a quarterback who doesn’t share his last name. I would gladly take Wilson in dynasty startup drafts.
