Garrett Nussmeier 2025 NFL Draft: 3 Teams That Can Target LSU QB If He Declares for Draft

    Published on

We break down three potential landing spots for LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier should he declare for the 2025 NFL Draft.

LSU Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is one of the more interesting prospects potentially available in the 2025 NFL Draft. As of now, he hasn’t committed to either entering the draft or returning to school for another season of college football.

Nussmeier is a top QB option, should he be available. If he declares for the draft, franchises like the New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders, or Tennessee Titans could jump at the opportunity to select the LSU signal-caller.

Why the Giants, Raiders, and Titans Could Draft Garrett Nussmeier

All three aforementioned teams are undoubtedly in need of a long-term answer at the quarterback position.

Regarding the Giants, the release of starter Daniel Jones most likely hints at their intentions come draft time. Meanwhile, the Raiders have struggled to find any consistency at the position since the departure of Derek Carr to New Orleans a few years back.

Finally, though Will Levis is a young prospect, he has struggled this season with turnovers and the speed of the NFL game. As a result, Tennessee could look elsewhere for a franchise QB.

What Could Nussmeier Bring to These Teams?

Nussmeier is creative, mobile, and has a big arm. However, he has struggled with turnovers this season, committing 11 interceptions.

As Pro Football Network’s Dalton Miller notes in his Top 10 2025 Draft QB rankings, “Your heart can tell you, ‘This guy has QB1 potential. He’s got a bit of Romo in him. He’s mobile enough to create as a passer, and he possesses a big-time arm that’s only gotten more consistent when operating on the run as the season wears on.’

“However, that would be willfully ignoring the rate at which he puts the ball at risk. His processing flashes are impressive, but his lapses are devastating. More time under center at the college level could help iron out some of his post-snap issues with secondary rotations and bait coverage keys,” he added.

Though it remains to be seen whether Nussmeier declares for the draft next season, it is evident he has the skills to succeed at the professional level, even though he still has important room to develop.
