There are many things that fantasy football managers have to consider each week when making their lineups. “Is the player consistent?” and “What is his ceiling?” are two questions to keep in mind every week.
Receivers Jahan Dotson and Gabe Davis are both capable of having big games and games where they don’t get many points.
It can be frustrating at times, but which receiver should you trust this week?
Should You Start Gabe Davis or Jahan Dotson This Week?
In the Pro Football Network Start/Sit Optimizer, Dotson is the player to start. His projected 9.6 points include three catches and 39 yards. That projected stat line barely outperforms the consensus projections of Davis (8.9 points).

Between these two receivers, I am going against the Optimizer and with Davis, even though he is playing against the New York Jets.
Fantasy Outlook for Davis This Week
Look, I get it; Davis is going up against a strong New York Jets defense. But the Buffalo Bills are in a desperate spot as their season teeters on the brink. This feels like one of those big home games that Davis is known for. Neither one of these wide receivers should be in as receivers, with the Flex position being the only spot they should be in your lineup.
When putting players in the Flex, you want to go with a player with the highest ceiling. Davis has shown countless times that his best can be as good of numbers as any receiver in a one-week moment. He has three games this year where he has gotten at least 21.2 PPR points, and two of these games have been at home.
With how the Jets play defense, you can bet that Sauce Gardner will be matched up against Stefon Diggs for much of the day. If the Bills are going to win this game, then Davis has to win his matchup on Sunday. While that can be a risk with Davis, it will pay off this weekend. Davis will have 70+ yards and get in the end zone for his sixth touchdown of the season.
Fantasy Outlook for Dotson This Week
On paper, the Commanders have a much better matchup as they are hosting the New York Giants. However, when these two teams have played over the past two years, the games have been extremely low-scoring.
The most combined points scored in a Giants/Commanders matchup since the final matchup of 2021 is when the two teams scored 40 in a 20-20 tie last year. This year, the Commanders lost to the Giants, 14-7.
Dotson had an okay game, finishing with five catches for 43 yards. He has been pretty good the past couple of weeks, including an eight-catch, 108-yard, one-touchdown performance against the Philadelphia Eagles.
However, he is coming off a zero-catch game on two targets against the Seattle Seahawks. Both of these guys are as capable of having a big game as they are a dud, and this week, it feels more like Dotson having the quiet one.
