Gabe Davis Injury Update: Latest on Jaguars WR’s Knee Injury Suffered in Week 11

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Gabe Davis suffered an injury in the club’s Week 11 matchup against the Detroit Lions. Here’s the latest from Sunday’s game.

    What Happened to Gabe Davis?

After attempting to catch a pass from Jaguars quarterback Mac Jones near the end of the third quarter, Davis stayed down on the field.

He eventually hobbled to the sidelines with the help of Jacksonville’s medical staff and entered the blue medical tent for further evaluation. Davis had received three targets before going down, bringing in one for three yards.

On Monday, it was revealed that Davis suffered a season-ending torn meniscus. The Jaguars placed him on injured reserve, and he’ll now focus on getting healthy in time for the start of the 2025 NFL season.

Davis’ 2024 campaign was quite forgettable. He missed most of Week 8 and all of Week 9 after suffering a shoulder injury, and he finished the season with just 20 receptions for 239 yards and two touchdowns.

With Davis, Trevor Lawrence (sprained AC joint), and Christian Kirk (broken collarbone) all out for the season, the Jaguars’ struggling offense will likely get even worse.

    Fantasy Impact of Davis’ Injury

Davis never cleared 45 yards in a game this season, making this injury not too impactful in most fantasy leagues. The Jags weren’t competitive against the Lions, but their offense is pretty straightforward, with or without Davis.

Evan Engram is a weekly, volume-based starter at tight end, while first-round pick Brian Thomas Jr. is a how-lucky-do-you-feel WR3 who carries plenty of upside to consider alongside the downside that comes with playing in a Jones-led offense.

PFN+ Analysis on Davis’ Injury and the Jaguars’ Offense

It has been a tough season for Davis, who entered Week 11 ranked 85th in PFN’s WR+ metric. His catch rate was 9.1% below expectation, and while his drop rate was not that bad at 5.1%, we have seen him drop a couple of potential touchdowns this season, which tends to create a bigger narrative. Intriguingly, Davis entered the week with a 30% target rate inside the red zone, which was tied for ninth in the league.

Davis was 17th from last in yards per route and 24th from last in yards per target. His EPA per target entering this week was exactly 0.0, which ranked as the 24th-worst in the league this year.

This is Davis’ worst season in WR+, but just barely. His previous low during his time with the Buffalo Bills was 84th in 2022. He was also 82nd in his 2020 rookie campaign. Davis’ ceiling has not proven to be that high in his career, with his highest single-season grade being 59th in 2021.
