The New York Giants, who are 2-13 this year and hold the worst record in the NFC East and the NFL, are currently projected to get the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. With Sanders’ father, Coach Prime, Deion Sanders, also being a firm believer that his son will be the first one off the board, the QB’s successor in the Colorado Buffaloes lineup has also spoken up.

In a clip shared by X (formerly known as Twitter) user Dov Kleiman on Dec. 27, Lewis, who finished his three-year high school career with 11,010 yards and 144 touchdown passes, was sitting beside Sanders in the locker room amid their pregame practice session for the Alamo Bowl and said:

“I’m just spectating future New York Giants quarterback. I’m so inspired you know, like watching him and Travis Hunter every day.”

Sanders finished his 2024 regular season campaign with 3,926 yards with 35 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Pro Football Network’s latest mock draft by Alex Kennedy has him as a Round 1 prospect and being selected as the No. 1 player by the Giants, who have over a 40% chance at earning the top pick according to PFN’s Playoff Predictor.

The Giants have two games left this season: against the Indianapolis Colts (7-8) and NFC South-leading Atlanta Falcons (8-7) in an away game. If they lose both, they will be considered a likely candidate to land a QB, which could either be Sanders or Miami’s Cam Ward.

Kennedy’s analysis of Sanders says: “By selecting Shedeur Sanders, the Giants land their quarterback of the future to pair with Malik Nabers and Tyrone Tracy Jr. Arm strength and accuracy are two of the most distinct selling points on Sanders’ tape. He generates easy velocity and has a degree of off-platform freedom. And while his mechanics aren’t perfect, he can find uncanny ways to hit targets with good placement and touch.”

The other team that could potentially land the Colorado QB is the Las Vegas Raiders, who is 3-12 and the fourth-ranked team in the AFC West. The Raiders will travel to face the New Orleans Saints (5-10) and host the L.A. Chargers (9-6) in their final two games.
