Antonio Brown’s Cheeky Jab toward Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs

Former Steelers All-Pro Antonio Brown took to social media to throw shade at the Chiefs. Along with many Buffalo fans and the footballing world, Brown took a dig at questionable officiating that helped Andy Reid’s squad edge past Josh Allen and the Bills.

Brown’s sarcastic post featured a viral image of Taylor Swift and Caitlin Clark chatting courtside, captioned, “Don’t worry these refs got us.” This jab aligns with fans who are growing weary of the Chiefs seemingly catching all the breaks.

The AFC Championship Game had its fair share of contentious calls, inclduding two back-to-back officiating decisions that tilted the game in Kansas City’s favor. Something similar happened in their last game against the Houston Texans.

One particular play on a third-and-3 had Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid appearing to reach the line to gain, but officials disagreed, declaring him a full yard short. The next fourth-and-1 saw Allen’s play ruled as short of the marker, with replays suggesting otherwise. CBS rules analyst Gene Steratore said, “I felt like he gained it by about a third of a football,” adding more fuel to Bills Mafia’s frustration.

Meanwhile, fans have taken to social media to express discontent, with some even calling for officiating reforms.

Yet, the Chiefs remain unfazed. Patrick Mahomes, who delivered two rushing touchdowns in the game, brushed off the criticism, stating, “First off, I want to give all glory to God. Without him, none of this is possible and I truly mean that. I’m just lost for words, I’m excited for New Orleans. I’m just so proud of my teammates and how they responded. That is a hell of a football team.”

Mahomes now boasts a 4-0 postseason record against Allen. Kansas City will face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59, who booked their own berth for the prestigious game by defeating the Washington Commanders 55-23 at Lincoln Financial Field.

Chiefs getting flak on the internet is nothing new, but one thing is clear: Reid and Mahomes continue to come up clutch when it matters most. The Chiefs are now on the verge of accomplishing what even NFL G.O.A.T Tom Brady couldn’t — winning three consecutive Super Bowls.
