Former QB’s Eyebrow Raising Questions about Brian Schottenheimer Taking on $10,100,000,000 Franchise

A notable former NFL quarterback raises questions about Dallas Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer who will lead a franchise for the first time.

After a tumultuous 2024 season for the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones and the front office appointed offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to be the team’s 10th head coach in its 65-year history. Schottenheimer will take the reigns of an NFL franchise for the first time in his career after helping lead the Cowboys to a 19-15 record in his two seasons behind Mike McCarthy.

The hire has been questioned by reporters and fans alike, and while some are willing to give the first-year head coach a chance, many are not holding back their opinions on the Cowboys’ decision.

Daniels Makes Bold Prediction for the Cowboys’ 2025 Season

On FS1’s “The Facility,” Super Bowl 44 champion and career backup quarterback Chase Daniel made a bold prediction for Brian Schottenheimer’s first season as head coach.

“I think it will be an overwhelming success if [the Cowboys] make the playoffs,” Daniels said. “…[he’s] never been a head coach, and [he’s] never been a head coach in Dallas. It’s the brand. It’s everything other than football that matters there.”

While the team has an impressive history of Super Bowl wins and MVP-caliber players, success, especially within the Cowboys’ organization, is measured with a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately mindset.

In the nine years quarterback Dak Prescott has led the offense, the team has two playoff wins, most recently in 2022 against Tom Brady’s Buccaneers, and zero NFC Championship appearances. It will be up to Schottenheimer to lead not only the offense but the entire team to the pinnacle of the sport – the Super Bowl.

The world’s most valuable sports franchise ($10.1 billion), which lives in a constant spotlight, now rests in the hands of a man with no experience of leading a team. It remains to be seen what the outcome will be, but Chase Daniels’ thoughts are not too far off from the rest of the NFL community’s.

Dallas fans have grown impatient with a franchise that has supposedly aligned itself with the definition of “success,” and the recent decisions have only given them more reason to remain uneasy.

Schottenheimer and the rest of the Cowboys’ staff will have their first chance to show fans what direction the team is headed later this year at the 2025 NFL Draft, where they will have the 12th overall pick.
