Former NFL cornerback and current analyst Richard Sherman was arrested in Seattle on Saturday morning for an alleged DUI, according to FOX13 Seattle.
The Super Bowl champion and former Seattle Seahawk was booked into the King County Jail at 4:51 a.m., according to the jail’s roster. The Washington State Patrol confirmed his arrest and said the incident is still under investigation, with no other details being released until the case is filed by the Prosecutor’s Office.
The King County Prosecutor’s Office said it has not received official charges in reference to the case as of Saturday afternoon. Where Sherman was arrested has not been released, but if it was on a state road, the charges would be sent to the district court unit.
This isn’t the first time Sherman has been in trouble with the law, as he pleaded guilty to first-degree negligent driving, second-degree criminal trespass, and speeding in a construction zone back in March 2022. The incident, however, happened in July 2021.
Following his guilty plea in 2022, he received a 90-day suspended sentence and two years of monitored supervision, according to FOX13. Sherman would not serve any jail time unless he violated the terms of the agreement. Yet, the two-year period on that agreement does not end until March 2024, which is next month.
Sherman was a fifth-round pick in 2011 and went on to play 11 seasons in the NFL with the Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is a Super Bowl champion, three-time first-team All-Pro, two-time second-team All-Pro, five-time Pro Bowler, and a member of the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.
In his NFL career, Sherman had 495 tackles, two sacks, 37 interceptions, 116 pass deflections, three touchdowns, and five forced fumbles. He was with the Seahawks from 2011-2017, the 49ers from 2018-2020, and the Buccaneers in 2021.
Since retiring, he has worked as a pregame and postgame analyst for Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football since 2022. As of August 2023, he is also a co-host of the sports debate show Undisputed alongside Shannon Sharpe. He now lives in Maple Valley, Washington, which is around half an hour from Seattle.
