The case of Jalen Hurts has been a peculiar one. Since coming into the league, he’s proven doubters wrong at nearly every turn. After an MVP-caliber campaign and a Super Bowl appearance two years ago, he led the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl victory this season.
However, fans, media, and even some of his former teammates still do not consider him among the upper echelons of NFL quarterbacks. After the recently released Darius Slay received flack from Eagles fans for his alleged disrespect to Hurts, Emmanuel Acho fired back at the fanbase for their sensitivity.

Emmanuel Acho Criticizes Philadelphia Eagles Fans for Defending Jalen Hurts
The entire situation became a story when Slay listed his top quarterbacks in the league without including the reigning Super Bowl MVP. This comment led to a lot of backlash from Philly fans, with some even calling his release the correct decision.
Unfortunately, many people took exception to their treatment of a player from that Super Bowl squad who was a big piece of their elite defense. Ranking second on PFSN’s Defense+ metric, the Eagles built a stellar defensive identity, forcing the Kansas City Chiefs to a scoreless first half in New Orleans.
Former linebacker and NFL media personality Emmanuel Acho was among those offended by the Eagles fans’ remarks. During his latest appearance on The Facility, he called out the fanbase for their sensitivity.
“Eagles players and Eagles fans – Y’all are so freaking good at what y’all do. Best fans in the world, best players obviously in the world. Y’all are too good to be this sensitive. How can you be a World Champion but still be mad that someone doesn’t think your quarterback is elite?”

His argument was simple. Hurts’ perception wasn’t going to change the reality of the situation. And the reality is simple: “He is a Super Bowl MVP. It doesn’t matter if he’s elite. Elite is subjective; That MVP is objective. Nobody can debate that.”
For what it’s worth, Hurts had a subpar passing season, albeit with elite efficiency and an 18-5 turnover-to-interception ratio. But he also was one of the best rushing quarterbacks in the league, with 630 yards and 14 touchdowns in just 15 games played.
He even brought up AJ Brown, who had a lot to say about the situation, before deleting his tweet on X in the aftermath. However, Acho brought up a couple of tweets in particular where Brown said, “Y’all pick sides if it’s not your favorite player. Weird behavior fr”
The superstar wide receiver then went on to call the Eagles community messy, comparing it to high school drama. Ultimately, the former NFL linebacker reiterated his initial stance.
“Eagles players- Y’all are too good to be this sensitive. Y’all are World Champions.”
