‘We Loved Having Him’ – Former MLB Superstar Reveals How Deion Sanders Juggled 2 Leagues

Longtime Major League Baseball superstar David Justice recently revealed the reaction he and his teammates had to Deion Sanders playing both professional baseball and professional football. While appearing on the popular podcast “All Facts No Brakes with Keyshawn Johnson,” Justice outlined how “it was never a problem” for the team, despite what media reports indicated at that time.

Sanders is regarded as one of the best NFL players in history and one of the most versatile athletes ever. He was a two-time Super Bowl Champion and made a World Series appearance as a member of the Atlanta Braves.

What Did David Justice Say About Deion Sanders?

Justice made clear that the Braves players loved Sanders and that, despite the media reports, he was not a distraction to the team at all.

“Deion was part-time, we understood he was going to be part-time. So, whenever Deion could make it, to the team, we loved having him. And when he couldn’t, we knew he was off playing football. It was never a problem with us at all. Deion was one of the fellas man. The media tried to make it seem like he was a distraction, but that was never the case. To be able to play two sports at the highest level is incredible,” he stated.

    What Is Sanders Doing Now?

Sanders is currently the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes college football program. Since arriving at the University of Colorado a few years ago, he has revitalized the program and made the team one of the most interesting and talented in the nation.

The Buffaloes have two prospects, Sanders’ son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and dual threat wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter, who are both expected to be selected quite high in the 2025 NFL Draft. Both players have developed dramatically over the past couple of seasons while playing under Coach Prime.

In Pro Football Network’s latest 7-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Hunter was selected No. 2 overall by the Cleveland Browns while Shedeur Sanders was picked No. 6 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders.
