The Buffalo Bills faced a disappointing 32-29 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs during the AFC showdown on Jan. 26, and while it’s been a couple of days since the defeat, Bills fans are still having a hard time accepting it.
The Bills gave a tough fight to the Chiefs but fell a bit short in securing a win, which put a full stop to their Super Bowl dreams.
Ryan Fitzpatrick Spills the Beans on Vibes in Buffalo Following Chiefs Loss
The former Bills quarterback recently sat down with his podcast partner for the show “Fitz and Whit” and discussed how hard the Chiefs loss has been for Bills fans.
He shared that he was texting one of his friends from Buffalo earlier this morning, who said that the people there are radio silent as they don’t look at this as just a game; it’s not just for fun. Winning was so important because it was like their life.

“Texting with one of my buddies who lives in Buffalo this morning, and just the anxiety before the game and during the game and everything, but going to work today, he said it’s just silence,” Fitzpatrick notes of presumably the Monday after the loss. “Because this isn’t a game to these people in Buffalo. This isn’t just for fun. Like this is their life.”
He further explained how a quarterback like Josh Allen completed 22 of 34 passes for 237 yards, two touchdowns, and 39 yards on 11 carries during the big matchup.
Fitzpatrick explained the situation in Buffalo and compared it to a funeral or a wake.
“And so to be so close, to feel that to have [quarterback Josh Allen] have that opportunity to go down and win the game and all the hope and excitement and for it not to happen … It’s like a funeral or a wake right now, you know, in Buffalo, and it’s not gonna be gone anytime soon.”
The former quarterback also shared that he hasn’t felt this way since he was a player. He remembered how he couldn’t sleep after losing an important game and how he would wake up at 1 a.m. in a cold sweat, which is how he felt after Sunday’s matchup.
The loss was an especially heartbreaking one as the Bills were extremely close to beating the Chiefs; even head coach Andy Reid agreed that they were “lucky” enough to be on the winning side of the ball.
