‘They All Need To Be Fired’ – Former Cowboys All-Pro Rips Joe Schoen-Led Giants Front Office As Saquon Barkley Continues To Shine

    Published on

A former Cowboys All-Pro wasn't impressed with the Giants' front office as Eagles RB Saquon Barkley showed on TNF what New York is missing.

Saquon Barkley is leaving no stone unturned to rub salt in the wound of his former team — the New York Giants. He brought out another dazzling performance Thursday night, leaving Giants fans and their front office weeping in regret.

Saquon Barkley Proves That It’s Too Late for the New York Giants

The 27-year-old running back torched the Washington Commanders for 146 rushing yards and two late-game touchdowns, helping big time in a 26-18 Eagles victory. He also added 52 receiving yards to the mix while registering nearly 200 all-purpose yards, showing exactly why the Giants should have fought harder to keep him.

This is what Mara and Schoen discussed before the start of the free agency (aired on HBO Hard Knocks). “I might have a tough time sleeping if Saquon goes to Philadelphia, I’ll tell you that, as I’ve told you. Just being honest,” Mara said. “I have been around enough players … but he’s the most popular player we have by far.”

Former Cowboys All-Pro Dez Bryant jumped in the matter, taking to X to rip Giants GM Joe Schoen and owner John Mara. Bryant shared the clip from Hard Knocks featuring Mara nervously discussing the prospect of losing Barkley, captioning it, “They all need to be fired.”

Giants fans have to agree — Barkley has now logged six 100+ yard games this season, a feat that’s both profiting for the Eagles and humiliating for New York.

For Mara, this season was meant to celebrate the Giants’ 100th year as an NFL franchise. Instead, it’s been a disaster. Barkley’s departure to the Eagles on a three-year, $37.75 million deal (per Spotrac) has only stressed the front office’s missteps.

Schoen’s decision to franchise tag Barkley instead of securing a long-term deal in 2023 has backfired spectacularly. Adding fuel to the fire, Eagles fans stayed postgame Thursday to chant “Thank you, Giants” during Barkley’s interview, driving the knife even deeper.

Meanwhile, Barkley’s brilliance has helped the Eagles climb to an 8-2 record. They are leading the NFC East and are serious Super Bowl contenders. The contrast with the Giants’ abysmal 3-7 record couldn’t be worse.

If that wasn’t all, New York is stuck with an overpaid Daniel Jones, whose struggles this season may soon cost him his starting role. To be fair to Jones, though, he’s coming from an ACL injury.

With every explosive play Barkley makes, the decision to let him walk seems more baffling — and more damning for the Giants’ leadership. The Eagles now enjoy a mini-bye before facing the Rams next Sunday.

On the other hand, the Giants must face another week of fan outrage and media scrutiny. Suppose this season was meant to honor their centennial legacy. In that case, it’s instead become a case study in mismanagement, with Barkley’s brilliance serving as a weekly reminder of what could have been.
